People who are using SoundID Reference - how are you using it?

I'm trialling it and have set it up both 1) within Cubase via Control Room and 2) on globally on my Mac.

Both seem to work fine after 15min of light use but I'm wondering if there are any routing or other considerations that might pop up further down the road?

As it is I'm leaning towards having it global since then I can run my other apps through it as well.

I used it years ago and I recall using it just in Cubase and NOT globally but I can't recall why. I think the drivers weren't as reliable then.

Ah I see a potential problem - audio inputs, which don't seem to want to connect to SoundID in Audio Connections. That's a blocker.

Looks like the answer might be to create an aggregate device in Audio Midi setup, then use the audio interface's ins and SoundID's outs.

’ve been using SoundID Reference for a while now, and I’ve tested both setups like you. There are definitely pros and cons to each depending on your workflow. Personally, I use the Control Room method while mixing, then switch to global when casually listening or referencing outside Cubase. The drivers and app have become a lot more stable over the years, so if you're not noticing latency or routing weirdness, global could be a smooth option.
