Audio Alignment to fix drifting
Hello!
If I have two portastudios eg Zoom R16 and Zoom H4n, they will drift apart after a while. A well-known phenomenon.
For example, if I'm going to record a live performance:
If I assign a track on the Zoom R16 to bass, for example, and record exactly the same bass on the Zoom H4n as a sync track.
Then I input the identical bass tracks into Audio Alignment-tool in Cubase, R16 as master (reference) and H4n as slave (target)
Now comes the question:
How do I get the three other unique tracks from the H4n to have the same alignment settings as the bass track??
Can i copy it somehowe?
Thank you
Is the drift non-linear? I mean, if it is a matter of a
constant small difference that adds up, i'd use the same process that is used in post production for frame rate conversions, that is change the sample rate of the file and then adjust the pitch back. You can do this with two processes in Cubase: Resample and Pitch Shift. MPEX algorithms are pretty good for this.
This way you can easily apply the same settings to all the files, every time, and you are not time-stretching the whole file bit by bit and also having to check for any issues, etc.etc.
it is pretty straightforward, at least after you figure out what is your resample (and pitch shift) percentage.
