I'm really annoyed that I am still on windows 7 and can't afford a mac, I only want to upgrade to cubase 13 on mac OS, but realistically it's going to be six months before I can do that, I might even go without a DAW for that long, also has anyone done the crossgrade from cubase to nuendo? is it worth it? is anyone using for example lexicon native reverbs on the latest cubase 13 on the latest mac OS? it might get to a point where I can no longer use my old plug ins and I really love those reverbs in particular, paid a fortune for them, same thing with rupert neve designs/yamaha plug ins.

I could update to windows 10 just so I can get the latest versions of cubase working but only have a week or so to do it, longterm I'm thinking don't bother but buy the steinberg upgrade now at the amazing price, then install it on a brand new mac studio system, this my dilemma

Well, I'm not sure I see the point in going to Win 10 instead of Win 11. Are there any technical or financial reasons for that?

If I were you and if I considered the option of not using the DAW at all for six months then I would probably just go to Win 11 (if possible) and get the latest Cubase now instead. You'd be able to use it for six months which should be worth something.

And if you wait the problem could be that your old version won't work as an upgrade to the new licensing system since they're shutting the old one down "early" next year. So I think that's a problem if your old version is 'too' old.

After close to a dozen Macs, I'd never buy another for any reason that I can imagine.

Cubase to Nuendo .....fantastic in all respects. I now use Cubendo13, built-in 6 licenses etc...tending to focus with Nuendo.

Lexi Native plugs......flawless day to day year after year on Windows....I'd never ever ever ever ever...ever....trust Apple. From what I routinely read, the Lexi plugs DON'T work on any random Apple/Mac configurations....seems Mac users blame Lexi....of course I personally get the impression Lexi/Harman may have silently decided to bail on Apple. Regardless.....flawless Lexi on Windows.

Super simple to run a mainline daw in a master/slave....super simple to keep/acquire any previous type win hardware (win98, xp, vista, 7, 10, 11) to run old/ancient plugs (as long as 3rd party auths still work)...and slave that/those to the master daw.....ie....nothing becomes obsolete.

If you have Mac fever, that's the way it is. But you did ask.

thanks I never thought of master/slave idea, I'm just really liking the look of the M2 studio that's all, doesn't mean I'll actually buy it, I really like the mac OS, heard the new M chips are amazing, they are very expensive and it's more of a longterm plan, maybe do it in 6 months.

yes the main reason is cubase 13 would not run on windows 7, and I could upgrade to windows 10, it's getting to a stage now where I'm going to have to do something soon also for security reasons, my motherboard would not be compatible with W11 and also from what I've seen I really don't like it either, hence why thinking of moving over to a mac, probably mac studio, maybe a mac mini.

I think 11 is quite a bit better than 10.
