I have read many posts on this problem but no real solutions:

When editing using the grid snap or snap to curser to cut and move audio, the event snap point always take preferance over the event start point. The event snap point is very often not related to the event start so audio snaps to the wrong place. It is very slow and tedious to open each audio even and drag the event snap point to the event start. What is needed is a global command to re set all snap points to event start, or a global event snap point disable.

This problem has been brought up many times in all forums and still Steinburg has not addressed it. Any progress on this?

Which version of Cubase? If had this problem in older versions but now that ou mention it I haven't since v8 or v9 or so. Default snaps at the beginning of the clip AFAIK.

Hi just a bump because I have this problem and also an answer.

The problem : Cubase places the snap point on your audio at an arbitrary point within the audio element,
(this happens with me after I use ctrl+alt to shift the wave within the element)
Now if you try and drag the element it will snap to this arbitrary point rather than the beginning of the element.

The solution: put the curser line where you want the element to snap to, select the element, select 'audio' then 'snap point to curser'.

It's odd that this glaring issue hasn't been brought up anywhere. There must have been a lot of users who found it.

there's allot of glaring issues that never get brought up. when I updated from my ancient cubase 4.5 to 9 - I noticed quite a few work-flow breaking bugs that had manifested somewhere between versions. I went to support, who didn't look at the issue or even acknowledge the bugs in the first place and I had to find work-arounds myself. I updated to 9.5 with the hope that these bugs would somehow magically be fixed. of course they are not and still persist. Some stability improvements were made between 9 and 9.5 but nothing major.

I love cubase because it can do everything, but many of the things it can do remain as they were and never get updated. Instead of improving what they have and fixing bugs it seems that the MO at Steinburg is to jam more and more bloat into every version and also make it harder to use with idiotic style choices. /rant

Perhaps you are misunderstanding what is meant by curser? it's the play line. put that where you want the start point of the audio to be. select the element the audio is in then go 'Audio' 'snap point to curser'

Nope. Tried curser. events +curser, grid+curser. events+grid+curser, in fact everything in the snap options. It never snaps to the event start. I can post a video but cant figure out how to do that on Gearspace.

When exporting your audio, un-select the check box for “Insert iXML Chunk”. This will locate the snap point at the start of the new audio event. So when the new event is copy-and-pasted, the start of the event will snap to the cursor.
