I wanted to start a thread based around the plugins you guys use and how you use them. There's sooooo much ish out there from eq compressors to delays chorus stutters/saturators etc and I just want to know how people are using them.

I love the "FET" compressor I think it's perfect on bass, just adds that meat around the booty that i like

"Maag eq4" perfect on everything for me, it's like salt and pepper it never gets old. I use it mostly on lead vox, it just adds life to them. The difference between watching an old t.v. from the 90's and popping on one of these new samsung hd t.v's lol

"Voxengo Gliss" eq is my baby. I use it to take care of unwanted frequencies. I love being able to see the spectrum and go directly to where the issue is and man handle it lol. I also love Fabfilters pro q for this but it doesn't allow me to see what i'm tweaking (i'm a visual learner lol)

"Fabfilter Timeless + psp 608 multidelay" the BEST DELAYS EVER IN THE WORLD OF DELAYS hahaha!!! heh Vox, synth leads, pads, strings etc they both just get the job done for me. I can filter, pan, reverb, saturate, and direct them wherever i want however i want.

"2c Audio's Aether" has become a great new friend of mine when it comes to reverb. I was a die hard "CSR/Altiverb 6" user, but Aether has become that chick on the side that's on the verge of being the main one lol.

"Ozone 3" - i've created a preset that just works on ALLLLL my tracks. I start with that front the gate and start creating/fine tuning from there. And then i'll throw "ozone 5" when i've completed my track just to make it all make sense and hit how i want it to hit.

What about you guys, what are some tools that are just no brainers for you

Oh yea definitely... I love the waves doubler, s1, and de-esser from that bundle. But the Waves U225 and U226 has blessed me as well. I use it just to move ish around and utilize more of the field. Synths, parallel bass, strings, even bg vox.. I like everything big and in your face and waves plugins have been a great asset in accomplishing that.

"Waves SSL EQ" (the standalone one, not the channelstrip) on distorted electric guitars. Just 0.5 dB of around 2 KHz makes a dull guitar cut through the mix.

A chain of "IK Clipper (Yellow) (max 2 dB of GR) and the IK Brickwall Limiter (max 4 dB of GR) in Clean mode for bringing the appropriate weapons to the Loudness War.

"Waves Kramer Master Tape" on 7.5ips for smoothing out harsh and/or sibilant vocals.

"Waves CLA76 Bluey" in all-button mode on my parallel drum bus for bringing aggressiveness into the drums.

"Avid/Digidesign D-Verb" for small and unobstrusive room reverbs.

"Avid/Digidesign EQ3" for all bread-and-butter and surgical EQ applications.

Honestly, I like to minimize my choices. I spent a lot of time with a good friend in his studio....every plugin ever created was at our disposal and we spent a lot of time figuring them out. I like to go to my meat and potatoes....

I usually pretty much smash the parallel drum bus. Just kick, snare and toms, sometimes a bit of the room are sent individually to that bus.
