My replacement synth
Hello everyone,
I am in the process of replacing an older synth of mine, a SH-201, with a contemporary one. The studio is rich already, featuring a variety of synths, so I am interested to avoid much sound overlapping. Whether poly or mono/para is not an issue. The synth should VCO/DCO/FPGA. Other digitals/VA are not considered (due to present overlapping, and soft synths). I plan this purchase before the end of the year, so waiting for (potential) future releases is not an option.
I'm currently considering these options (this also defines my budget, which is €1.3 -€2.5):
- Moog Subsequent 37
- UDO Super-6
- Electron Analog Four
- Roland JD-XA
The studio has already:
Prophet-6, Pro-3 and Take 5
Polybrute, Minilogue XD, Deepmind12
Nord Lead A1, Roland SH-101, Peak, Virus TI2
Behringer: CAT, K-2, Neutron, Pro-1, Model D, TD-3, RD-8
Digitakt and a couple of romplers.
I feel that S37 may overlap with Pro-3, I'm intrigued though by the original Moog sound/experience. On the other hand, Super-6 offers the binaural experience, I'm not sure though whether I'll make serious use of that (my genre is generally in deep house/electro/synthwave), and the present lack of USB DAW integration or USB over MIDI, is restricting. The Analog Four and JD-XA are considered while being a different design than the rest, I am unsure however on what they would bring to the studio sonically.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Best to all and stay safe
