syntax errors

Just took delivery of a B-stock MS-1. Everything's good, except for one thing: all the bottom keys from F to B need more travel than the rest to trigger sound. Not exactly unusable but definitely noticeable and an immediate irritation. Anyone else had this issue or know if there's something I can do fix it? Already updated to the latest firmware.

I'm reluctant to return it because they're not easy to get hold of for a reasonable price. Also the sound completely smokes the VST emulations I have. I could learn to adjust my playing when using it but I feel like it will always annoy me.

How about registering the thing with Behringer and asking for replacement or repair?

I've registered with Music Tribe, but I'm not sure if B-stock items are covered. I'll chat to the shop tomorrow and see what they say. I doubt they'll be able to replace it as the MS-1 isn't being sold anywhere except as B-stock, and the shop I bought it from has none left.

I don't really like plugins - not quite the same as having some knobs and sliders to twiddle - but can be done with a hardware midi interface

I have just upgraded my MS-1 mk1 to the new firmware (1.1.14) and it seems the new "Last" note priority option has some weird behaviour. With the envelope switch in "GATE" or "LFO", when you release a note that is not the most recently played note, it jumps to sounding whatever is the lowest currently held note, even though you have still not released the most recently played note. For example, if you hold C, hold E (above), hold D (in the middle), then release E, it sounds the C again, even though the last played note D still has its key held down so should still be sounding.
I don't know whether the mk2 currently has the same issue or not, as I only have the mk1.

I did spot one unannounced improvement in the new firmware. With older firmware if you used MS-1 as a midi keyboard via USB or DIN, to control other synths, it was easy to get stuck notes, because if you played chords with both hands fairly fast it could get overloaded and send a note off message before the corresponding note on message for that key had been sent. I don't think that issue is happening anymore, with this new firmware.

I made a post in this thread 20 minutes ago, but it does not seem to be visible at the bottom of the thread now, even though it shows in "My posts", and the forum summary had already updated to show my post was the most recent, at the appropriate time. Forum bug?

When I got mine a couple of years ago the bottom key was harder to trigger than the rest.

I opened the unit up noticed the little frame inside was broken. It is very flimsy so I can see how easy it is to break. I super glued it and all is well.

I think this is proper SH-101 behavior.

No, the recent firmware update added new note priority options specifically to make it possible to depart from the original SH-101 behaviour. The new “Last” note priority behaviour does allow last note priority in “GATE” or “LFO” mode (which I think the original SH-101 did not), but it now has this weird quirk that I described above, which I imagine is an oversight the developers did not notice during their testing.
