I find it quite interesting that you've got about 18 posts in here defending the QC. Do you even own a QC?

I get all the toys at some point, and chances are I will own a QC, once the BS fanboy panty wetting hype winds down. What I despise is not the QC but the ridiculous level of hype for the thing. 1000 pages of it on TGP before it's even released! Paid influencers promoting and comparing it in disingenuous ways.

As I said, now that the shills have been paid off, we can gradually see some actual reviews in which money did not change hands. I'll be disappointed if it's anything but the second coming of christ.

I don’t buy the justification of caring about tech. You have posted in a highly reactive or “fragile” if you like way towards criticisms of the NDSP in this thread multiple times. I don’t know why it matters to you that much, there are lots of new amp sims coming out constantly and until this one you’ve always been highly critical of them. That’s fine, amp sims aren’t for everyone but why suddenly the care about NDSP and hostility to critique?

As for me, I’ve already explained my situation before in this thread. I own a Kemper, owned a bunch of amp sims over the years going back to the Boss GX700 (never liked the original Pod), though up till the Kemper always going into a real tube amp and primarily used for FX. I was somewhat interested in the NDSP QC until I found out about the business model and the demos didn’t impress me as much as I’d hoped, then some people started to point out practical issues related to working with it in a studio or live use with routing and the cab and finally I’ve no spare money for the task of trying out new toys. So it’s not for me currently.

That has no bearing on anyone else’s opinion and unlike you I’ve no interest in stopping discussion of the QC if it goes one way or the other - if it’s the king, close or a pretender I’d like to know. it won’t have any impact in the value of what I currently own just as the Kemper didn’t impact the value of my tube amps, but when I come into this thread it’s to see discussion of the QC.

You've misread my posts, which is understandable. I've blocked Goon and question why I ever felt the urge to address those posts in the first place. A fight for balance never goes anywhere here, and no one asked me to be the fairness police. I was focusing on bad energy. To those whose prayers are answered by other products, more power to you. To those who think that way about the QC, great. There are no wrong answers. If people want to post statements to change public opinion, why should I care? Moving on.

I'm excited to try a QC, but having redesigned the pedalboard this week I feel love again for the analog domain, so there's no rush to demo a unit. These things do come in waves though. One month, amps. Next month, sims. After that I'll hate guitars. Having both analog and digital, and the option to combine them, is a great thing. Arguing over the final 5% of emulation sound quality is not.

Well that was strange. I drop a bit of criticism on the QC itself, and somebody seemed to take it pretty personally.
I get this thrown at me: fragile, brittle self-esteem, child throwing tantrum, luddite, self-serving, damaged ego, advised to leave,...and then blocked.

My man elambo, time for a bit of introspection. I think I should take all of those terms and present them to you for review, and recommend that you go back and look at this thread again.

As for my bias, Zoom 505, Pod, Behringer rack thingy, Guitar Rig, S-gear, Amplitube, TH-U, Revalver, Kuassa, TSE Audio, Bx Rockrack, Neural DSP plugs (yes I like Neural), Helix (sold and bought again), Kemper, Fender/Marshall/Vox/Mesa/Orange heads with 4x12s, bunch of pedals, don't even want to say how many guitars. Every piece of gear I have been happy with at the time, and found it capable but that obviously hasn't stopped me from trying out new things. Probably just a matter of time before QC will be on that list. Just don't remember any of these hyped to the current level of QC nor encountering the extent of defense for it before.

Is it possible to mix with this, externally, in the same way you could with UA interfaces?

Example: having multiple amp sims going that cover tones for my static mix being guitar x2 (left and right) and bass, but showing them as inserts within my daw?

That would make this more of a useable studio tool and not only for tracking.

There is nothing that will EVER replace the sound of Mic on Cab and a room mic from a tube amp. Period.

Line 6 POD tried in the 90s and now Kemper that is no longer a hot product replaced by Quad Cortex for next few years. Same story over and over again.

I understand ppl use Quad Cortex when tracking cos can't use Twin or Plexi at home. But as long you record DI you can at least reamp it later on in a fancy studio. Once mics are set up, reaping process goes pretty fast.



If i was on budget i would rent the best studio i can afford for a day or even half day and reamp there with fancy Neumanns, Beyer, real SM57 Unidyne III, Neve, API, Chandler and so on.



Personally i can't stand records tracked on digit amps. I just turn it down cos it just sounds awful and unpleasent (even if it's one of my favourite band - which BTW I email them with complaint).

If you are serious about your tone then please stop recording digital amp simulators (even if your deaf drummer tell you to do so).

There are many reports of TOP level engineers doing blind tests for each other, and even they were unable to tell the real chain from a kemper modeled chain. Nail The Mix mentions it on several of their podcasts.

And kemper is over 10 years old now? If someone sent you a mix of amp sims and said it was real amps, I bet you’d say it sounds good.

I’m not saying digital is better than real amps.. I use both and always capture DI’s

Kemper is flat and thin sounding no matter how many guitar layers you do.

Cortex Quad guys understood the guitar sound better IMO.

However, the depth and organic is just not there on digit amps. It may sounds "better" in first few seconds but your ears will get tired very quickly of all digits even if it's "perfect" sounding gtr.

Imagine, speaker, air, mics, pres, eq, comp, line...ADC/Tape traffos vs simple line out from digital box, hm?

I bet you listen and enjoy your old records more then modern recorded albums on digit amps which you got impressed of for few minutes.

Not to mention ALBUMS mixed and mastered digitaly. Yuck.

Aside from all the abusive language and the absurd claims...
...imagine listening to your old vinyl in all its analog glory without realizing that a very big percentage of your favorite old vinyl was very probably mastered using very early digital delays in the cutting stage.

And I absolutely love that the Kemper is so bad and so obviously digital sounding that JHS with about 400000 subscribers on his YouTube channel fooled each an everyone with a blindtest that lasted a whole year.

The tones on that channel have been sounding plasticky and one dimensional ever since. No one with educated ears was fooled. And they take themselves way too seriously. They need to lighten up.

I have those on mine as well. The tin of the cans act as a shield against electrical crosstalk. It smoothes the highend of the profiles and adds some analog warmth to the otherwise cold, 2d, sterile, hollow digital sound.

The worst part is that I prefer real amps over amp sims. But I also like amp sims. I’d like to know if people use the processing power of the Quad Cortex to offload the CPU

After 11+ years on the Axe-Fx2, I've started looking into latest stuff and Quad Cortex popped up.

Waiting for hype-deflation makes sense, so I did some time-based YouTube searches. This is roughly the sequence I've seen from oldest to newest:

1. High-profile YT players looking or pointing at it and/or smile-pointing, with "game-changer?" or similar is-this-the-new-jesus-modeler questions
2. Army of wanna-be high profile YT mediocre players start doing the same thing in bad lighting.
3. High-profile YT players move on to other paid demos and/or are promoting less
4. Big smiles, thumbs-ups, pointy-fingers slowly turn into shrugs, question marks, non-smiley faces
5. Firmware 2.0 comes out and wanna-be's change from non-smiley-faces to eyebrows-raised-pointy-fingers and back to "game-changer?" questions.
6. High-profile YT players remain mostly-quiet (maybe unpaid?) but rare follow-on videos exist.
7. Wanna be's start posting non-smiley-face-pointy-finger videos asking "is it still good?"
8. The non-smiley faces start morphing back into frowney-face-pointy-finger videos stating or asking something like "what's wrong with this"

TGP has deleted much of the complaint threads. The hype train still exists over there. 2.0 is finally out but missing promised features that were supposed to be there at or near launch. Plug-in integration, marketplace, and some other things are still waiting

Thanks - something I'm curious about is latency at a gig if you connect the USB out to a computer that's running a Metric Halo UNL8 board and then route those USB outs to digital mixer channels.

I don't have a QC, but it looks like it can route each input (guitar on 1, vocal mic on 2) to its own USB out. Because the QC is cabled to a computer (USB Host) the ULN8 should be able to see/select/route the QC's USB guitar & vocal outs into the ULN8 mixing environment.

What I don't know is latency. Anyone ever try the above with a QC? The reason I'm interested is it saves a D/A & A/D conversion step for the guitar, frees up analog inputs on the ULN8, and allows backing tracks to automate vocal FX happening on the QC.

I sold my QC long ago. This after the first one I got blew up.
