For someone looking for a SH style bass synth with modern features, this synth will fit the bill.

1 Oscillator with saw/square/sub/ noise Square has pulse width syncable if you want. Sub can be -1 to -2 octaves

Lowpass filter only

2 envelopes with full ADSR

2 LFOs with a lot of different waveforms fully syncable to either internal clock or free running. You also have the ability to control filter and Oscillator tune as well as other things with LFO 2

16 step sequencer with clock divide function note resolution can be anywhere from 1 note per bar to 1/32 triplet.

The Magma takes some getting used to as the signal flow is not from left to right like some other analog mono synths. Everything is well labeled and not too hard to figure out though. The most difficult part of the Magma is figuring out all the shift functions in sequencer mode.

The Magma has 4 banks of 8x8 presets (preset is patch and sequence) so, 256 patches and sequences.

The sequencer section has 1 note and 3 mod tracks all of which can be clock divided. The mod tracks are all assignable to most the front panel knobs on a step by step type sequence.

Magma is capable of making all 101 type sounds as well as long evolving soundscape type tracks using the mod tracks to slowly change parameters over time using clock divider.

Bottom line is you get a strange little box with oddly layed out panel...But inside there resides a fully analog SH101 clone that is more than capable of making some serious basslines.

This unit did not sell well because everyone expected it to do 303. It will never be a 303..But it does 101 and 202 sounds very well.
