1993 - a friend was listening on headphones to some binaural nature recordings I'd just made, and she pulled off the 'phones and asked simply: "Do you have any music recorded this way?"

Thus was launched decades of experimenting with various microphone arrays for acoustic music recording that could create a semblance of that "you are there" spacial realism of binaural on headphones, but still big and enveloping on loudspeakers. The closest I've come is the 'Onno Double AB'.

I ended up here because I couldn't be bothered sitting in a room with no windows while watching a group of former friends disintegrate while they spend six months achieving nothing of creative value.

Live broadcast with balance mixing, no safety net makes me feel like I'm actually achieving something.

I suppose a bit like watching something on the internet vs doing yourself. Ahem.
