I like how you're addressing everyone collectively...because it is both a group problem and the group needs to solve it with unified action, rather than singling out particular individuals (even if some are more guilty than others).

Carnegie had it ass-about, should have been the Remote way instead: "How to influence people...and thus win friends"

This is the sort of communication that is pretty much non-existent with people working from different locations via the internet.

Communication and connectivity are two different things.

Actually, I had a FOH sound engineer for this event.

Besides my normal duties as recording engineer, music mixer and music producer, I also produced and directed the 15 camera video shoot we were there to capture.

Addressing the my concerns by involving all members of the group as distinct from its individuals was my best approach.

It worked out famously well. The recording came out quite well, We were all very happy with the results.

I must agree, yet there are ways to bring communication, connectivity, and technology together.

In your video they were down with what you were telling them right away--good for them. SO many players would have ego problems with an engineer, even one with a great rep, telling them that something they were doing wasn't exactly perfect and fully Grammy-worthy all the time. Yeah, that's the thing. It's about looking at the bigger picture rather than the, "me, me, and me" concerns.

These cats have zero ego issues. They are a community. At one point we had twelve individuals on the stage with zero personal issues. Everyone worked together for the greater good of the live performance capture and production as a whole. This continued throughout the project, even during the music mix and video edit sessions.
