It’s worth noting that a lot of Voltage Modular developers have a spring sale running. This platform has really pulled me in this past year. Some of the 3rd party developers are producing very creative sound design tools at low cost. Check R_Ware, Playertron, Weevil, Adroit, Dome Music Tech, etc. Exciting times for the platform.

My only gripe (and it's kind of a big one) is that the thread will be hard to find and you really need a stream of new people. So could the thread just be left in music computers? Or hyperlinked or maybe just stickied?

It's linked from the main forum index, not to mention signposted from a number of places elsewhere. I would argue this is now the *easiest* to find thread on the entire forum.

I've tried it. It's good but depends on what you want to do. If you want a complement (some final touches) it's good... if you want a Vocal CS, not so much IMHO (I don't feel it's intended as such). I'd rather use CLA-Vocals for example. Or if you can spend more, Overloud Gem Voice / IKM Joe Chiccarelli when on sale.

LA3A are what a lot of people use for guitars...

The one Waves plug in that everyone should own is the MV2...it works on almost everything but I remembered a producer recommending it for toms. Tried it recently for that application and it's great...

Please take linking to music computers under advisement as that is where plugin talk happens and is the natural destination for folks wanting to have a casual thread like this IMO, and most importantly it will be the best place to pick up new thread followers.

I understand why having it co-opted to the dealzone makes sense tho.

PSP 2445 at PA is a fantastic reverb.

Not sure it really needed so much devaluation when actually people seemed to like it..

Sometimes I just pick a random number in the old Who uses plugin alliance thread and read through about 10 pages if I'm having trouble falling asleep. Not saying it's boring its just strangely comforting and helps relax the mind with a mix of chatter and knowledge and bc of the age of the thread i like the perspective it gives to the now.

It was sort of good to have a place with *sidesight* over Plugin-Alliance frequent news, plus Dirk's high & low activities...

Who Uses Plugin Alliance? How to they compare to Wave, FabFilter, Softube, Sound Toys, UAD etc.

If so, what's your favorite "go to" plugs?

I'm going to continue to pass on Waves no matter how good the deal is bc of WUP and license limitations. Not saying they're bad, many are useful or even good but personally I won't even install them if they're free. I much prefer Plugin Alliance in this price category and in general really like alot of them as well as their licensing system.

UAD and Softube are good and offer good support/updates but are overpriced imo so I don't buy much from either company bc I've got plenty of great plugins that were much less expensive and are of equal quality. Still, happy to see UAD going the dongle free direction and into more reasonable prices. And if Softube prices drop to about half of what their now I'd consider more of them but the $100-150 per plugin average doesn't work for me.

Soundtoys are great and are priced fairly, particularly in bundles. But they are ilok so less than ideal yet I still like and use the 2 freebies I've got and will upgrade someday....maybe.

Fabfilter are also excellent but I've chosen competitors over them that offer better value. Still, one of the best developers in the biz.

My catalog of plugins contains alot of IK and PA, some PSP, quite a few Fuse/Neold, a handful from Eventide and SSL and the entire Liquidsonics/Reverb Foundry catalog for Reverb. Then Savant, Kazrog, Noise Ash, UVI, Relab, Wave Factory and Sonible to round out the collection. All great developers and prefer these to all those above. Later this year or next might add some Kush, Pulsar, DDMF and DMG but on a strict plugin diet atm.

I bought Waves L1, it looks kinda ugly on a 4k screen, but it'll get the job done.

Until something fancier comes along.

That's the worst part, they could have at least waited until page 2023.
