It's a beautiful part of the country, far North Queensland. I try and visit every few years and I would visit more often if it didn't take so long to fly there. It actually takes less time to fly between Sydney and New Zealand. I definitely recommend visiting the Great Barrier Reef for any one travelling to Australia. The infrastructure has improved, however the cockroaches are still very present. They survive anything. The thing to be most careful of in North Queensland are crocs, and not just the ones teenagers like to wear on their feet.

For weed, Nimbin is the place to visit. It is a very alternative and relaxed town.

I won’t even play it until I take it my tech….I’ll get him to swap out the pickups for Fender Jazzmaster Vintage 65s, a new bone nut were most of the tuning issues are…he will work his magic…Tuning stability doesn’t seem to be an issue on the majority over at offset guitars forum.

The Epiphone Casino he upgraded with Lollar P90s new harness ,Bridge and Bone nut and Kluson locking tuners is easily comparably to my Gibsons…

Pick below is with a Graphtech I asked for….he said I should have gone bone…anyway I took it back to him he fitted a bone nut and some Flatwounds. I just leave it to him now…I took my AVRI II 66 jazzmaster to him…I said work your magic…he did!

It’s a killer guitar the Casino and what he did with the Jazzmaster was nothing short of miraculous.

Most tuning issues are nut based… twoodfrd explains in his videos…and he’s a genius!

Agree 100% about the nut. Graphtec go into all my guitars from the cheapest on up. Its always the first upgrade that gets done with the first set up by a professional. Then I decide if I need to upgrade the tuners, the bridge and saddle.

Well of course I'll play it and see how it feels...I Meant really play it...own it and record it..after the tech has done his thing.

I've played a few over the years don't play one enough to warrant and drop huge amounts on one...

It will mainly be used for song ideas...inspiration and recording... I already have a Jazzmaster so I'll be familiar with the the squire I'm sure.

Its just a bit of fun...I have no desire to drop 3K on a Duesenberg albeit them being stunning guitars...

I'm a big Beatles fan too. I've played those 360/12C63. The Double Cat (which is really a 360/12C rep) is a far better guitar IMO. Cheaper too.

If you love guitars which I'm sure you do. 3k for an ace guitar is not a lot in the grand scheme of things. You constantly go on about people sending little money telling them to put it towards hardware. How much is that Squire going to set you back in total. You would be a lot closer to the Dues/Rick if you followed your own advice. Even if you sell the Squire you'll never make back what what it will cost you in the end.

Anyway enjoy it. It will be fun to play non the less.

I can sink £150 into on pickups and a setup and it will cost what a new one would cost.

As said...I wouldn't spend any money on Hardware if it wasn't used all the time and get me great results...For the odd time I'll record a 12 string part...I can't justify a 3K guitar sitting in its case not being used...

These squires are not sh1t by any stretch...The pickups will have to go though...I want Fender clean JM Jangle...

If I decide its not for me..I can refit the stock pickups and sell them on for little loss.

I've bought and sold guitars for decades so know this is a risk free project...I can flip this for what I paid over and over again....The Sherwood Green and matching headstock being the selling factor as you cant get them in the UK

Grew up playing a12 string. They really have to be in perfect tune. The best tuners are Waverly. I have Schallers on mine. Waverly’s are stupid expensive but soo precise….
I have them on my 6 string and in a different class…

fun fact... waverly are owned, operated and sold by stewmac.com... and they stand by their tuners 100%.

warning... never take waverly tuners apart, for any reason... they are super easy to take apart, but impossible to put back together again... it's the weirdest thing and srewmac would not give me any info on how to do it or why that was the case, but instead just replaced the two tuners i took apart.

Relying on you handy folks out there. I have a Fender acoustic that rattles the lower E on the third fret. Any one got a handy fix for that? Do I just file down the 3rd fret a bit where the lower E hits it?

You can get a decent strobe tuner app for your phone these days. I use iStrobe+ mainly. It's more accurate than any human would ever need.

would really have to see it. if you can... get someone else to fix it if you don't know what your doing but no don't just start whittling down frets you will make things worse.

actually the neck may have an adjustment and just needs to have some relief added through truss rod adjustment

and if there is no truss rod or if there is correct relief and you are fretting the low E at the third fret to get the buzzing fret then the high fret that is buzzing is between the third fret and the bridge... it is not the third fret. on the other hand if you are playing the open E and it strikes the third fret then maybe it is just the third fret that needs to be pressed back down or even filed or sanded. but then again it may just be the bridge piece is whacky or it may be the slot in the nut that needs work.

so you see there is a LOT of things it could be and just willy nilly filing frets could make things a lot worse. best to get someone to look at it that knows what they are doing especially if it is a Fender acoustic and not some junk guitar... it may be just a simple fix

but... many fender acoustic guitars are junk guitars... so one would need to determine the value of said guitar and then figure if it's worth putting anything into it.

acoustic guitars are a world unto themselves and there are so many levels of quality... i've been playing guitar for 51 years and it's only last year that i got myself a good acoustic guitar... but like most things "high end", they can be more temperamental due to being built right to the edge of tolerances, thus needing more attention, care and maintenance... but to me, it's worth it because of the sound and playability.

if one has a cheap acoustic (2 to 4 hundo) with a fret buzz and wants to learn how to fix it... i say go for it and practice on it... learn to fix your own stuff if you want... watch vids, buy a book, etc... and do it.

one will make mistakes, but that's how we learn.

This Saturday will be the first distribution of weed at the Cannabis Social Club I joined.

BTW a close friend of mine and his buddy popped a lot of seeds hunting for a mother plant and found some exceptional Runtz that received international recognition. A cannabis cup winning breeder at first hardly could believe that they didn't spray terpenes onto it.

I took that as an inspiration to up my music production game. I found that I really underestimated how going through massive amounts of sounds when it comes to the key elements of the track can't be overestimated when your track "still just lacks something" regarding the quality of the production compared to a professional mix.

Get it looked at and setup by a pro….

I rang my tech today….I told him I’m getting a Squire Jazzmaster 12 string delivered! I said if it plays like a dog you can tame it right….? He laughed…

I said there ain’t no dog that can’t be trained!

Of course there is a cut off point depending on the instrument.

If the Squire provides a decent foundation to get it playing and sounding great ill be happy.

With upgrades on cheaper guitars…one has to keep in mind that selling the guitar at higher price to take into account the upgrades 90% of the time fails to work….

One has to put the guitar back to stock…sell it off for what you paid for it and sell the pickups and tuners and whatever else separately.

look like I found finally a buyer for my Adam´s S3V. And I also found a great deal on Amphion´s One 18 with Amp and orig Cables. I playing with the thought to pair it with a Neumann KH 750 Sub... Let´s see how it works out.
