Stereo Mic Pre and Tube Compressor with Fet DI and Wet/Dry etc.

Hi, my name is Mitch and I run a small company called MDC (Mitch Davis Circuits)

I'm going to make a proper debut thread on this very soon but right now I have limited promotional material and demos.

I've been a touring/session musician as well as a repair tech for well over 10 years, through which I have gotten to know a massive variety of pro audio equipment from all eras.

This is my first major product of my own design. It has been a labour of love and obsession and I've spent the last number of years refining and perfecting the circuit. I can confidently say it's an incredible tool for tracking, mixing, and even mastering.

It can be extremely clean and transparent, with excellent THD and noise floor performance. But, it can also be an amazing distortion box when you want it to be. I love to hit that line a bit when tracking bass or vocals. I apologize for the small number of audio demos, but it's something I am working on and I will update the folder as I do.

I have parts on hand for 7 units before I launch a wider kickstarter campaign.

Samples sound good and has some cool features! Sorry to burst your bubble but CBS used nuvistors in the early Volumax/Audimax compressors.

Looks like you're using 7586s? I'm curious how you're able to make those work as the gain control element... looking at the curves, wouldn't you want something with a remote cutoff?

Thanks, I've manipulated the control circuit quite a bit to adapt but I do love the response of those triodes. I find the compression response to be very smooth with a wide sweet spot in the speed controls.

Also, my mistake yeah, thanks for the correction! I was vaguely aware of those CBS compressors years ago (a friend had one, I even looked inside), but for some reason I remembered wrong and thought the tube was only used as makeup gain.
