It wont sound different per se.
But i think the whole idea behind it was to keep the minimal toolset for a really fast and creative workflow. And 3 bands together with a tilt filter is really enough. It is already more than API550 can do.
Iβd make a new product, based on a Slick but with a bit different workflow, as i said earlier, like moving to SSL-style, keeping features like different bands interactions, contsant/proportional Q and so on.
Why a new one? Because i know a lot of people that know you cant have Strat+Tele+Lespaul all-in-one keeping distinct original features intact. In digital it would be just overcomplicated. IME.
Fair enough. We simply want the four-band SSL style tool kit (plus pass filters), but with the superb TDR sound, so I'd welcome a brand new plug-in achieving that goal.
Dont care if it needs to be a new plugin or not, just another band and variable Q and this thing will be the only channel strip eq that people should be buying.
7 years has passed and Slick EQ GE is still my go to mix shaping EQ, it seems I'm not alone.
I recon sometimes missing the 4th band, and I see how playing with the tilt filter can reproduce similar curves, but this doesn't seem intuitive for me and I tend to reach for it when simple, broad strokes, moves with "world class" sound are needed.
Output Stages, EQ Sat and Dual Mono are features that keep me going Slick in every project.
And my wish is.... having Dual Mono not only affecting EQ curves but also harmonics generated.
I added 2 Slick EQ GE instances on my mono vocal track, one processing Left, the other Right with different Output Stages at +18, one Excited, one Toasted.
Instant wonderful 3D vocals. Having something similar automatically happening in Dual Mono, being affected by the randomization seed, will be awesome.
Was reading through this thread and it's nuts... Assuming you would have the same (or almost the same) EQ moves on both instances, right?
