hmmm ... why did all factory presets except a few dissapear after installing the update?

It's because there is less modulation occurring over the same time-period so it sounds less pronounced.

I have Reelbus and Roundtone. To me Reelbus gives a very classy sheen and depth to the sound, Roundtone is more low mid modulation. The delay is cool also. Not an engineer but my first impressions. I'd be interested in others opinions and if people use them together since they seem very different to me. Almost like Reelbus sounds like a tape machine and Roundtone takes tapelike qualities and treats the sound as a processor. Have Cuttertone also which is even more of a skew!

Guys...i was in middle of work and never upgraded to v3. I only tried it ocassionaly on different computer. Last few days i demoed it even more. I don't know what i am doing wrong but i just tried new reelbus and i have EXACTLY same settings, i mean totally same as far as values reading are displaying - but sound in v3 is way more different. So different. I don't mind upgrade but as long as i can get the same sound of v2.9.

Difference is not even subtle.

Example - default preset (welcome to reelbus) from v2.9 is different in v 3. Especially low end. I can't get same. What am i missing? What was changed..

I tried some of the Tape-Sims UAD/PSP/Slate/Waves... etc after a few days of using them the first hype was gone.
Most often they do not simulated the tape compression correctly, for my taste.
If it was there it did not sound (felt) right.

But this one is IMO a nice try that has no compromises and for this it eats some CPU.
But it also sounds right, feels good.

Other companies call 140€ he takes 20€ for a great usable simulation.
Reminds me on printing the mix on the Telefunken.
The bias knob is heaven.

I guess he is inventing it further and further; for this reason may the versions sound different?

Press the legacy button in the saturation section, done.

May you just think it is different.

Do two bounces of a short 10 sec section.
Version 2.9 and version 3.
Level match them and listen if they are for real different……..

But i did. That's what i am trying to say. I would never created some sort of impulse thread before checking everything.

I don't think they are different, they really are different. And difference is not subtle at all. There is some issue or simply you all are crazy and i am only one normal with good ear (terrible attempt to make joke)

Ok here is example of what i am talking about. Listen and tell me am i going crazy. I intentionally created one simple 808 kick so it is easier to spot on but i can assure you - difference between new and old is quite drastic especially in busy mix.

There is:

reelbus-old-defaultpreset
reelbus-new-defaultpreset

I only loaded reelbus with that default preset. Here i am attaching screenshot as well...No matter what i tried difference is there. If you look carefully right channel where new reelbus is loaded even have slightly different metering. Like something in gain structure of new plugin version changed..

New version is different sounding in a way it's more brighter and sharper. Note that i am not debating better or worse i am just previewing obvious difference and i am asking how to get same sound like on old reelbus..

edit: i think difference is easier to spot on if you import these in to your DAW, loop them and switch solo button. Forum mp3 player seems tedious for this task.

Oh thanks..well next question is..does anyone know is it possible to achieve near or similar sound of older plugins. I would like to use latest plugin in order to align with compatibility and future support (i am sure older plugs won't be developed anymore) but at the same time i would like to have same or at least similar sound. I am finding new version drastically different (ok we can debate...i am sure someone will say that it's the sameish sound - but to me it's pretty different)

Does anyone have info on what changed? Can i mimick older version? I am actually surprised that i didn't find more on the same subject. Are you guys not missing that well known "reelbus" after upgrade? I think legacy sound character was why this plugin became famous in the first place..

This is not whining or something i am trying to figure out all options..

I understand your passion when you get a hold of something that REALLY works for you,but I honestly have not tried the v3's yet so I can't help at the moment. I find it difficult to imagine there was anything to improve on the older v2s., but onward and upward. Apparently there is a "legacy v2.9" saturation button on the new versions that should help your situation, but IMHO you don't have anything to worry about using the older plugs going forward. They still work and should for the foreseeable future. If you want to start integrating v3s into future projects then go for it. Otherwise just stick with what works.
I skip over many upgrades unless I must, or there is a compelling new feature. Why fix what isn't broken?
If all else fails, shoot the developer an email. He knows his programming better than anyone on the forumz and maybe he can point you in the right direction.

running the demo in soundforge... works, but it doesn't do anything after i hit apply, just adds noise.
any of you had this problem?
