Yellow Matter Studios and Club Indey preview our newest psychoacoustic binaural modeling techniques - a preview of what’s to come in next year’s 5.0. You’ll hear incredible phantom center, 3D room tone, and clear imaging like never before.
What’s Modeled
Yellow Matter Studios features models of the Genelec 1032C, Kii Three, and Neumann KH120 speakers that professional mix engineers have been asking for.

The Kii Three has quickly earned the title of most technically advanced studio speaker in the industry. Its time alignment and cardioid bass response project an incredibly detailed audio range without a trace of muddiness. It's the go-to monitoring solution for some of the biggest names in the industry.
The Genelec 1032C are another classic fan-favorite mid/nearfield monitor offering a pristine, accurate response that delivers mixes that translate everywhere.
And the smaller Neumann KH120 gives you a tight, natural frequency response that is the perfect companion to the larger speakers. It’s a great way to confirm that your bass will translate to a smaller speaker.

Club Indey is our brand-new night club featuring a perfect model of MASSIVE Funktion One speakers. These are the same speakers heard in the world’s best clubs and festivals.
We obsessed over perfectly capturing every single nuance, no matter how subtle. So when you hear your music in Club Indey, it’s like you're actually there. Club Indey will be incredibly valuable for producers who want to know how their track really sounds outside their studio.
Whether you’re mixing Hip-Hop, Electronic, or DJing your set, you no longer have to imagine what your music will sound like in the club– Club Indey lets you hear it right there with unbelievable accuracy.

Another new addition to these spaces is an HRTF selector. This feature will enable you to customize the spatial audio experience even further than what can be achieved with the Ear Profile Slider.
HRTF stands for “head related transfer function” and it describes how our ears perceive sound from a source given the fact that we have unique ear shapes and head shapes.
New HRTF B is modeled on a specific ear and head shape that is quite common. It has more upper midrange information than the other HRTF A profile.
HRTF A is the VSX classic “universal HRTF”, which is used on all current VSX speakers.
Most people will quickly realize which HRTF profile works best for their unique ears. There is no right or wrong, only which sounds the most correct to your auditory system.
However, we recommend using a 10 SECOND BREAK when switching between them, or else you’ll be fooled by the instant disorientation that occurs when our ears hear contrasting frequencies.
Ear profile adjusts a somewhat broad curve in the upper midrange that is commonly affected by inner ears shapes. By right clicking, you can choose a center frequency of 2.5khz, 3.5khz, or 4.5khz. Profile 1 has the most, Average has less, and Profile 2 has the least.
To finalize your custom spatial audio experience, you can use the VSX EQ to make further customizations if necessary. These are broad filters that can further help shape the sound.
Use well known references that you know sound great! Then take the time to find the settings that keep them sounding great. With some time, you’ll find the ideal settings!
Our ears and heads are unique, and therefore the way we perceive sound is unique. Therefore, we’re so happy to add more ways to customize the tone of VSX’s speakers for you. If you feel overwhelmed, use HRTF A and your usual Ear Profile settings and these new studios will sound familiar and fantastic.
