I just received my ghost+ cable, in Europe.
First of all I want to mention that I don't have "golden ears" nor am I a mixing or mastering engineer, I produce music and love to mix my own music and sometimes I do it for others.
Receiving these cables is kinda the ending of a journey that started like 3 years ago, I was in a music store and saw some Vovox cables and asked the guy from the store what's special about them as the price was quite high compared to the usual aspects. He couldn't tell me much more than that they are from Swiss (I lived there, when somebody is serious about quality its them and Japan). So I was curious, so I bought a cable and used it in my setup, without really a/bing them... a few month later I changed some cables (again) and found out that also the sound changed a little (lets call it more open), after back and forth I was sure the sound changed because of the Vovox cable. That was the first time I really witnessed it.
So I googled a little and found a lot of information about this topic, some stuff sound esoteric other pages where quite scientific and another page, was this
thread
To make a long story short. After reading a lot about this topic, I was sure I will order these cables when they are released and also will end this search (not really the most interesting part about making music).
I am listing with my current setup since 2 years (Dutch & Dutch 8c, Merging Anubis and some Cordial cables (pretty basic)). I changed the cables today and I can clearly hear a difference, like the bass is a bit more focused and a bit more overall clarity than before.
So all in all, I just wanted to say: Cables are defiantly not the most important thing in your chain, you won't hear a Night & Day difference.
Its something you can try out if the rest of your components are already as good as you want them and you ask yourself if there could be some improvement (for example..). Then try some cables and just find it out. Google gives you a lot of information and questioning things is healthy but theres a German saying (Probieren geht über Studieren) wich means:
trying out goes over studying (aka "use your ears"). So its your choice, try it and hear or just skip this point and leave your setup as it is.
those were my cents to this topic..
Cheers to Robb, who went really deep in this topic to pursue perfection and came quite close, out of my perspective.
And thanks to zoom25, who reported his tests to all the readers of the Grimm TPR thread. Its that kind of contribution that makes me love forums like this one.
