I've been saying from the beginning that the compressor was too smooth and different and doesn't have that SSL punch and spank as the console. Again, Waves and Overtone DSP did a great job on theirs. Sure, BX version sounded different but I never used the compression as I thought it was just OK but did sound better with the saturation (More Aggressive).
Glad to hear SSL is helping them get the compressor correct. Now you have my attention.

Now, after reading this above, you know what they are bring out with it, the Bus Compressor and if SSL helped them get this right too, oooh that's going to be really nice. Plugin Alliance is one of my favorite plugin companies and I own 98% of their plugins.

Congrats PA and Dirk! You did it right and went through the right channels.

Interesting, now they have the LED's like the console. Love it!

I wish they would give the peeps that bought the plugin when it came out a pre-testing period like now.

I agree 100%; I will be so excited if it really is the SSL Bus Compressor in its AAX DSP glory! I am also very much looking forward to the console improvements; this is gonna be so cool!

It would be cool if they also added the EQ as a separate plugin like the 2098.

So now SSL have their name on every emulation except Overtone? As owner of Duende (love the new v6), Waves (still good, esp. the channel dynamics) and Console 1 (great, esp. with the controller) I'll have to be blown away to buy this. Demoed the original bx E, I liked it but felt no need to add it.

There are others... IK, SL8, PSP and Nomad come to mind (also Glue and Nebula stuff in addition to what I listed below).

Plus, this will only be for the BX E so far... that we know of yet, anyway.

I wish they had informed us about upgrade costs, etc. from the start so we could have skipped over the speculation and gone straight to praise or complaining.

I dig it, though... rather have official than not.

Seem to remember them sending Softube and UA through some qualifying hoops... don't know how real that is, but it's their ballgame.

Likely forgetting some I don't have (even some I do).

I could care less whether something is 'official' or 'endorsed'. Once something has those code words it becomes more difficult for a developer to make enhancements; the original company might not like or permit them. Witness Avid when they killed off the Sugarbytes wrapper that provided AAX format to vast/au plugins by saying wrappers are verboten.

I care just the right amount for me... no more, no less.

Good point, though... probably why I have both kinds.

Same with hardware for me... often pluses and minuses on each side of officially endorsed, cloney stuff and actual brands.

All my SSL hardware is the actual brand (X-Racks and X-Desk), but there are some clone and based-on pieces I'd get if I didn't have that (or had more money to throw that direction).

Wow that's a long memory you have there, haha. You know Avid have allowed a lot of vst/au wrapper plugins to come out in the last several years now, right? I understand their initial reasoning for not allowing such a wrapper because AAX has much stricter security and allowing VST/AU would be a giant gaping loophole. Those are NOT wrappers you're thinking of but hosts. A wrapper changes the code; s/w like Blue Cat Patchwork and MB7-2 are NOT wrappers but hosts; hosts do NOT change code. Get your facts and terminology straight. And we'll not even get into VEPro.

Wow, that was uncalled for. My cat wants his hiss back. Sure, wrapper/host is a similar concept though that produces a similar result in that vst plugins can be used. Sheesh.

For me the current unique selling point of the BX Consoles is the TMT feature and coupled with being cheaper were the main reasons I chose it over Console 1.

Sure, that's why I demoed it in the first place. The TMT didn't do much for me, though, found it to static and with randomizing it, it's more like a static pre-EQ curve per channel which I even may counter-EQ for in the mix. And as I still have the bx N, I could use that for the TMT only. Which I never do.

I'm the opposite. I think the TMT is the best console modelling I've heard itb. It gives depth and character that I like in my music with the strip at flat settings. If I take a drum pattern for example, and have an instance of bx console E on it, with different channels set to each instance it creates a deep sound, everything feels a bit more real and solid, that's invaluable really.

Having set things up with it. I occasionally flick through the randomised for one and sometimes it just pops something into place a bit more. Karloff70 worded it best in one of the other threads saying something along the lines of it's a bit of extra pocket for free, that comment stayed in my mind as it's a great way of putting it.

Anyway, it's not going to be for everybody, nothing is... For me, it's the best console emulation and an excellent strip to boot.

When i click on that random thing my mixes fell apart so drastically (for me anyway) it's like complete soundstage goes wrong that i am seeing this whole random TMT like some sort of gimmick (if not mix destroyer).

I don't understand why would i pain my a** in mixing stage, only to "try" or to destroy all my efforts with more or less subtle channel bleeding or compressor/eq altering? I mean when i mix something and when i am done i proceed further. Why completely changing mix character (which is what TMT is doing for me) after i made so much effort in it?

That TMT thing possibly can add some depth and character in mixing stage when you mix into. Or possibly when you set it up across all channel and hit random few times and then mix it - sure. But generating random adjustments after mix is done sounds and works like a trouble. Just my opinion.

When Brainworx were first promoting TMT I remember Dirk saying you would need to have a bit of EQ dialled in to hear the effect of the component modelling. I'm guessing that is still the case?

I said 'random one', as in changing one channel, I don't use the random all feature.

You mix into it, and when starting the mix, or even a bit into it, sometimes picking another channel for one instance can help sit it better.

Yeah it would be playing with a loaded gun hitting random at the end. Definitely one to mix into.

Just to add, and it's been mentioned a few times in the bx console E thread.... randomising all your channels after you've mixed into it is of course not a good idea, you wouldn't do that in a real life situation and the same applies here, your welcome to try it tho.

I think that randomising all is for before you even start mixing, as a starting point, or if you are curious to see how it sounds, you could save your session and see what happens. I'm not surprised your mix would fall apart doing that tho, I wouldn't expect any less!

I think the sentence ‘Get your facts and terminology straight’ sounds brusque and seemingly aggressive - passive maybe!

But to be honest life’s too short to be dealing with ungracious people with a heightened sense of self. So have a great life and back to topic.

Don't worry! Hysteresis is still there, instead of a big knob, it's now a little screw under the thershold knob in the gate section

If you think 'get your facts and terminology straight' is a problem then you've never been told something in a matter of fact way. I believe in the direct way of speaking and making my point clear. Like I keep saying: if someone has a problem with that I'm not going to change just to please them - it ain't my problem.

Ungracious would be not correcting a wrong statement and letting people go on believing something that's wrong.

Back on topic:
I just hope we can have both versions on the same system at the same time.
