Mega useful and important information for owners of the Behringer X Touch One with a motorized fader.
This protocol does not initially allow you to automatically switch tracks in multi-track sessions due to their limitations, BUT setting the rules using a script and sending the code to the controller to read-it turned out wonders! Autobanking has been working!!

This protocol has been working for many years, but no one has been able to remove these restrictions. Yes, this is not a full-fledged firmware - this is work, so to speak, through a certain emulator, but this is now a working solution that allows you to work very cool and quickly in the project!!

Er... I can switch tracks/banks etc just fine here. If you are referring to a particular DAW or protocol, it would be helpful to contain your excitement and communicate exactly what you are referring to - none of us are mind-readers (or at least, I'm not...)

Rules? Script? none of those are necessary for banking to work here. For the purposes of the thread, I will not let you know what system or DAW I'm using, because that seems to be part of the fun...

I've been working very cool and quickly in my DAW using the XT-one since I bought it... but I'm glad that whatever software and of course this protocol you were using that wasn't working now is decided!

News for Ableton Live 11 users. I have updated the script. Also the button for "Follow Song" does not lit when active. I have modified the Mackie MIDI remote script (SoftwareController.pyc) and now it works correctly.

How to use:

1. Backup and delete "ChannelStripController.pyc" and "SoftwareController.pyc" in MIDI Remote Scripts/MackieControl.

2. Replace with "ChannelStripController.pyc" and "SoftwareController.pyc" from the zip

3. Start Ableton and enjoy!

I have figured out how to get into MC user mode and also got plug-in mode working by assigning it a button. I'm struggling however to figure out how to move between plugins and the parameters so I can automate. I'm trying automate Ableton's Utility device Gain parameter using the motorized fader.

Example:
On a vocal track in Ableton I have Slate's Virtual Mix Rack, Utility, Ozone 9, and Arturia Reverb Intensity. So this is the order of devices on that Ableton vocal track. When I go into MC user mode, select plugin mode, all I can ever get to is the first device on track which is Virtual Mix Rack and only parameter I can edit is the first parameter on the VMR plugin which in this case is "H-01" which is Trim. I'm unable to traverse to Utility device (which is second plugin on track). Nor can I figure out how to move to next or previous plugin parameters with encoder so I can "flip" and automate with fader.

Any help would be appreciate to explain how this can work. It's really an enigma within a puzzle figuring out the MC user mode and knowing which buttons to assign to do this.

Edit: I'm running on Ableton 11 and XTouch One firmware 1.08.

Hello, I bought an X-touch one a few days ago, I had the problem that the console did not follow the faderbank, so I started looking for solutions, but I only found incomplete information with my little knowledge in programming and javascrip check the Studio One files with Regarding Mackie control, Today in the morning I found the error and managed to solve it, now the fader bank and the channel bank work perfectly, I can change channels without having to move in banks of 8 (that annoying error in which you try to go from channel 8 to 9 or 10, but studio one returns you to channel 1), I also managed to make the console follow the xtouch one, so if you change the channel with the mouse, the xtouch is automatically updated to that channel , This modification only works 100% in MC USER mode, in the other modes the Channel Bank does not work, I will continue working on that, for the moment I am happy to share with you the mod that I made in this link.

Will the X Touch one follow track selection from the Mixer/Project page in Cubase.

If it does....... is it a Hack i have to do or will it work out the box when i get it delivered and select the correct protocol on the unit.
What would that Protocol be ?

Are there any further issues / restrictions to using this, as intended, with Cubase 11?

Appreciate any guidance.I'm not being lazy as i've read through but it appears i can't quite follow the thread accuratly.

It doesn't follow of the new track is outside the current bank.
A behringer rep knowingly lied about this to trap people into buying this device.

Has anyone figured out why all of the replacement Mackie scripts do not like folder tracks in Live 11? I miss being able to close my folders...

for some reason when i use the scripts you link to the AbletonKB article, my 'Session/Arrangement' button and CLip/Track button are switched ....(F1/F2 buttons of the x-touch one). do you see same behaviour?

edit:also the 'locator' buttons in arrangement view don't seem to work. could it be that the folder you uploaded is the 'Platform M' folder, and not the 'x touch one' folder?

Hi all. I just bought a (used) X-Touch One and trying to figure out if it's working properly. When I move from track to track, the fader position doesn't change at all. If I move the fader, it will adjust the volume of the track I'm on, but the DAW track volume will automatically jump to wherever the fader happens to be and then move as I move the fader. This doesn't seem like it should be normal behavior, but I wanted to check. On your X-Touch One's, when you move from track to track, does the fader move to whatever the different volume levels are for those individual tracks?

If that's how it's supposed to work, is there a setting or something that would turn this behavior on, or is there an issue with my unit?

You'll need to provide some details in regard to what DAW you are using, what mode the XTone is in, and how you have it installed, if you want to verify what correct behaviour is....

Does the motorized fader work at all?, could be a slipped belt if not.

I tried it in Luna and Pro Tools so far. For Luna, I had it set to the default mode. For Pro Tools to the HUI mode.

Yes, the motorization seems to work, for instance, going beyond existing channels will bring the fader down to the bottom if it wasn't at the bottom before.

But I take from these comments that the fader should be moving as it's jumping from channel to channel, at least in normal operation?

Yes, in MCU or HUI mode the faders should move to reflect the currently selected channel's fader position.

Maybe try trashing and reinstalling it?

Also check the firmware is at least 1.0.7, earlier versions have some issues. I think mine shipped with version 1.0.2, and this didn't correctly keep the selected channel in focus in Logic until I updated the firmware.

Trashing and reinstalling what (I'm on a Mac). And yes, I'm using 1.0.8 firmware.

Has anyone had any problems with the Xtouch One bank/channel selection in Pro Tools 12?
If I try to navigate the channel buttons past the 8 bank, and I press the channel button on the xtouch twice, the rename track dialogue box pops up.
Is there any way of stopping this?

I've also noticed that there is no visual representation of what bank you are on in the display section of the xtouch one. I've used the xtouch one with FL studio before and it shows the bank that you are on in the display panel. Is this another HUI problem?

I'm on Cubase and I'm already hating to manually switch banks! what?! Is this really true? Do I have to manually switch banks of 8 to find the track I want? This is totally against the idea of speeding up my work, it's a headache!

I have updated the firmware to the latest with no luck. Hate to give up, but I hope there will be some amendment to this. Has anyone been able to get this to work as it should in Cubase?

Can't you "track over" instead of bank? I mean, you can do both. I had the One a few years ago, sold it... I liked it though! It worked well with Reaper.

I don't know what you mean by this. When I use the navigation buttons on One, I can skip through to the 8th track and it gets stuck there unless I switch the bank. On cubase, if I chose any track within the bank, One recognises it and switches accordingly, but if I choose a track, say 17, I have to switch the bank twice to reach there. Its fiddly and counterproductive. I'm trying to underestand if this is an issue with Cubase, MCU protocol, or behringer One.

Yeah, I just meant like doing previous/next track, with the "track over" thing.

I haven't used this in over 2 years... but yes, that is counterproductive.

Some say to just select the track you want, with your mouse, and then you'll see the fader jump to whatever that track's volume is set to. Again, counterproductive, but.... might be your only workaround, unless others can chime in.

This works only if I choose a track with mouse within the selected bank. If I'm in bank 1-8, I can choose with mouse any one of them and the fader on One jumps as expected. However, If I choose track 9 with mouse, One does nothing unless I manually change the bank on One.

Especially as a Behringer rep explicitly stated on this forum that it was resolved with the firmware 1.7. At the time I asked this I still could send it back. After the release of 1.7 it was too late.

This works as expected in Logic - any channel you select (in, or out of the current fader bank) gets automatically put on the fader, so it's not a limitation of the MCU protocol, or even the XTone as such.

If I had to guess, the problem probably lies in Cubase's implementation of the MCU protocol.

Also, make sure you're running the latest firmware, as earlier firmware versions couldn't even do this successfully in Logic.
