Yes, the OP should travel back in time 4 years and pay 50 US dollars for a mix engineer that will make all of his EQ adjustments for him.
Great comment!
Naaah, precision is for forensics, broad strokes are for music. )
If you need something more than SlickEQ can give - check the source, it must be bad.
ProQ is cool, it can give you simple workflow too, like proportional q, but it gives you too much in its endless possibilities, and you can spend useless hours adjusting EQ instead of making a good music mix.
Just cuz it's possible doesn't mean you gotta abuse it. The OP (albeit 4 years ago now. LOL!) is looking for a simple answer which probably means he doesn't want a dozen different EQ plugs for every different context. ProQ has an extremely useful GUI as well as excellent functionality and immaculate sound. No need to go anywhere else, unless you're looking for something other than EQ.
My vote goes for Equilibrium setted up with knobs, the simpler GUI.
5 bands: Hi Shelf, Low Shelf, Bell, HPF and LPF. Maybe a Tilt. HPF and LPF turned off by default.
Hi Shelf and Low Shelf setted as a fixed frequency and HPF/LPF setted at a fixed db/oct.
You can also try Lindell TE-100: 2 bands, hi shelf, lo shelf, hpf and lpf. It may look weird, but it sounds gorgeous.
Also, you have no excuse for not trying TDR SlickEQ.
There's a few simple sweetening EQs I like. Sonimus Sweetone, Sonimus SonEQ Pro, Acustica Pink CM, Black Rooster VEQ-1P, Fuse VQA-154, Softube Trident EQ and Slick EQ GE.
The simplicity of the Sonimus Sweetone is great! I like tools that give you a lot of tone but are easy and creative. I have just got it and I'm experimenting with different sources. And it uses very little CPU which is a plus!
If you don't have cash try Tokyo Dawn Records free tools or, also free, Luftikus. On the other hand, if you can spare some cash on great EQ plugins, oh well, so many out there. ;-)
