i indulged and bought the bundle, must say I really like the HLS plug. Finished up a project I was working on last week with it and am really happy with the results, especially on guitars!

I'll be posting a couple of files this week of mixes I did with the pie and hls.

Not sure if someone posted this earlier, but I kinda figured out what you get out of the "preamp" knob.

1. Flip the line/mic switch to either
2. Flip the 50 Hz/60 Hz to either setting
3. As you turn the "preamp" switch higher you get more of the "analog" thing.

Just sounds like a bunch of hiss, not the sweet analog thing I remember. Maybe that's what the original sounded like. Hey, I wasn't there. heh

To be fair, it did sound okay on a snare track, not so much on guitars. It's really overbearing when turned up. I was running 40 tracks of drums, pianos, guitars, groups, sends, oohs and aahs, and one channel of that hiss overpowered the entire mix.

I loathe Waves as a company, but this Pye compressor is pretty amazing.

Tried this PIE plug over the stereo mics for a live vocal recital I did, rep was mostly modern musical theater/Josh Groban/Billy Joel kinda stuff. Nasty unloved grand piano and baritenor. Not a place I EVER thought I would use this particular comp, as I got it mainly for druma and multitrack popular music kinda stuff, but I knew it had a nice punch to it and the recording was kind of 2-d (done in a stone lobby in front of a window-wall during a rain storm, so lots of bad reflections and noise) so I gave it a try.....

And WOW, it was exactly the ticket. Gave the vocal a REALLY nice presence, turned the bland old no-name grand piano into something I liked listening to, just was really the ticket for this particular application.

So about this thing I would say, it's sweet on drums, individual ones and bus (if you don't need a big fat nasty kick). And it's an incredible vocal and bus compressor when the material suits it. Probably won't work on everything, but definitely a compressor with a really terrific sound and color to it. Coincidentally I used it without the harmonic distortion switch on, and it still retained all the bouncy compression character and up-frontness that I love it for.

Buy that shizzz if you know what it izzz thumbsup

I love the PIE as a buss compressor. It's got some "vibe" without completely sacrificing punch and clarity. Watch the noise switches so that you don't induce noise you don't intent to.

Didn't impress me at all, thought it sounded pretty sh*t actually. The PYE compressor however, impressed the hell out of me!

Now on sale.

No... not sure how you came up with that. The HLS + PIE are consider "Kramer" branded (like MPX as well), but they have nothing to do with his artists series (nor does their current special).

Got the PIE compressor today. I'm in love.

(I particularly like the 60hz noise much better than the 50hz noise.)

PIE Compressor is amazing on drums, 808s, etc. Usually have to turn the noise off, though. Very noisy.
