Waves Scheps 73





The Scheps 73 is a three band EQ, with a fixed High Shelf frequency, a Mid Band with 7 cutoff points
(including the recently discovered 10Khz bell), a Low Shelf with 4 cutoff points, and an 18db/octave
High Pass filter with 4 selected cutoff points. In addition to the eq, the Scheps 73 provides an option to
color the sound with harmonic distortion ranging from pleasant warmth up to the heavy drive settings of
one of the most popular preamps out there.

Didn't Waves already release a model of the 1073 in the "V-Series"? Or is this a model of the Shep 1073 (in which case wouldn't there be a 4th band)? Or is it simply a new plugin modeling of the 1073 (most likely!)?

Interesting- particularly keen to hear the input stage- love a bit of transformer on a bus! Have been very impressed with the character of the latest waves plugs- really hoping they have this one right.

Guess that means UA will come out with their new one to compete ASAP.

The drive section on this is nuttttty. Ludicrous gain on tap. Having fun and haven't even gotten past the pre section.

as you can see , not the v EQ 3 (not far anyway)

Filter : less freq choice (sometime less is more ..lol)
MF : 10khz bonus
HF: 10khz logicaly taken off leaving 12 KHz
Drive/preamp section : the whole interest here imho you can choose drive / preamp according how hot is your input signal and how hard you want to drive ....

i have no infos on price and availlbiliy , my wup is off since may so this might be the occasion to renew ... cause i do love neve stuff ....what i can say is that this occurs imo a new api stuff also , we at war guyz !!! Waves vs UAD ahahah all good for us !!

Damn my WUP just expired days ago...

It's always funny how people complain over Waves WUP and over the fact that for instance Abbey Road plugins are not included due to the licencing contract with Abbey and Waves.

But to me it always was a fantastic upkeep cost. I always received 1st class customer support from Waves, their plugins never let me down and are always stable and working perfectly from the day 1, each year I benefited greately from free new plugins. Last year for example they were Element, Manny Marroquin and GEQ. This year they started with WLM plus and the best 1073 plugin on the market.

I am really glad I renewed my WUP. But what I like about it is the fact that nobody forces me to renew it. I could easily use existing plugins for the next three years (and existing Mercury is actually everything one would need to cover all hist plugin needs) then renew it and receive probably more thousand worth of plugins for a small upkeep price.

Just to be clear I wasn't complaining over the WUP policy and was just commenting on the poor (for me) timing. At some point I'll buy something new or reup...

Also my comment wasn't aimed at you. It was more of a general moaning about others who moan about WUP as the worst thing ever occured.

BTw I think this is named after Andrew Scheps not the never knockoff. I hope it is because he deserves it!

Since the now mastered the M/S techno form the Redd concept , it seems that it becomes standard in their release witch is great !!! the good thing about non official licencing is :

1) price for us
2) freedom of custom design/add of features

i just hope they 're not recyling the same Drive and all from Redd and other previous release ...but really modeled the Scheps model

since its all emulation and the sorts, why not do a 1084 while at it? i mean o_O

The drive doesn't sound that great to me, it feels like nails on a chalkboard, and it feels the same on every Waves plug that I have (which is like 3 haha)

Maybe I don't know how to use it, but I can't imagine any one turning it up and thinking it's an improvement, unless you were literally polishing fresh feces.

I'm totally calling it "Sober Hearing Syndrome". Regardless of the gain staging levels these drive knobs do nothing except merciless raping of your sounds.

it's like everything ,the key is to know when to use it or not , and not other abuse it

Anyone had a chance to compare this 1073 emu to the hardware? (I don't own the hardware, and I don't have Mercury, so I can't compare them) but I am interested to see if this plug closes the gap.
