Just picked up the Oldtimer ME for $79 from PSP. Awesome comp, threw it on a couple of acoustic guitar tracks, nice, very nice. No reason not to grab this one, especially at this price.

I'm late to the party - but at the urging of another, I pulled the trigger on Old Timer and can see this being my go-to compressor plug. Alone - it sounds great! Chained with Sonar's VC-64 on a vox gives a lush sound that I would expect from an expensive black box.

how does this compare to the tone given by cl1b... i dont know why people are comparing this to the glue... cuz the glue is really clean.

ahhhh then again im assuming old timer are trying to achieve dirty compresaion like everything saying tape vintage or tube.

Just installed the v2.2.1 Old Timer update.

What a timely reminder of how good the ME version (still) is on the stereo buss.
Such a lovely compressor, with a very small CPU footprint as the bonus.

I just installed the PSP Old Timer Today, and it's the closest thing I've found to an instant 'make things better' compressor (especially for my vibe, which is warm, organic, singer songwriter country/folk/pop). It's what I've wanted from every LA-2A, Vari-mu compressor, and opto that I've tried.

PSP never ceases to impress me with the quality of their coding, their customer support, and loyalty discounts. I'm a PSP fan for life! This is an old thread - I'm curious to hear how many are still using old timer in 2024.

Honorable mention: I like the Neold U17, but more for the saturation/clipping section. Both plugins really help to bring an old school sound to my productions.

NECRO THREAD. I use the PSP NobleQ all the time. Very competent Pultec-style plug.
