Anybody else having random issues?

Ive rolled back to older intel firmware and Control software and it didn't really help some input signal issues I am having. Back on to the latest Silicon / Control 2 software firmware and still same. All procedures have been followed and even wiped my Mac.

My issues with the unit itself are really 2 things:

1) Random loss of the Symphony during usage (Control 2 mixer goes darkand have the "waiting for Symphony" prompt). A reboot usually solves this.

2) Outputs work but all input signals randomly stop working and confirmed with no signal levels being passed in the Control 2 software. I find that turning it off and then unplugging the actual IEC power cable which gives a audible small click sound usually fixes this problem

Bizarrely I can go 24-48 hours sometimes with no issues. But today both issues have occurred a few times.

Regarding the Control 2 Software itself - well I think its no secret there are bugs which I'm surprised got past beta testers unless it was a rushed deliberate released for a schedule

eg. when initially launching Control 2 the keyboard volume control for the main volume or headphone needs to be toggled between the two for it to work. Same with the headphone output channel selection.

Labelling of IO also no longer possible but I can live with that.

Anyhow - I am wondering if anybody else is having these problems and frustrated. It used to be damn solid back in the day. I assumed the Control software would be a straight forward quick bug fix release but it seems Apogee are not in a rush.. The software has a date of June 2024 so I am baffled that studios are also having to deal with this.

Yes. Lots of bugs. I find that sometimes the software glitch and get out of sync. For example some times channels in the mixer will be muted or panned at the output/mixbus even though the control 2 interface does not indicate muting or panning. Sometimes a restart of the software or the entire machine are required to resolve conflicts. Half a year of unresolved, major bugs; it’s been pretty hard on workflow.

With the update to Sequoia 15.4 few days ago, I had to re-install Symphony Control to get it to work again. Control 2 does not work with my Symphony I/O Mkii because I have two modules inside. I think their website recommends that on the downloads page. 🤷🏻

I also rolled back to Symphony Control and older firmware as its way more solid.

Support told me new firmware was coming way before xmas but didnt expect it to solve my issues. Presume still nothing new? One would think even renaming Control 2 input and output would be a quick fix. Losing my faith in Apogee

...and to be fair, with Apogee stuff, once it works it just works. Stays working for quite a while, no headaches.

Hard disagree. I was using their AD16X and DA16X for the longest time, like over a decade, and Apogee did their best to keep it pretty useable all the way to the later operating systems.

you have a useless symphony mark1 chassis in your closet?

you have 12k in mark 2 thats barely useable with their new software?

almost 4 full billable days in the past month troubleshooting this stuff

Really? Did the support confirm that? I searched on their site for this information but didnt find anything. Wanted to updated, but it seems like there is no reason...Better stay on Symphony Control, thanks you saved me time...

I’m on the third or fourth bug fix of C2 and it’s still the worst

None of the parameters match the GUI for certain… it’s crazy, things are unmuted when they say they are muted…. It’s not a working piece of software at all

You can’t label anything

If you are scrolling to get across the oversized window of it all and your curser glides past a fader or pan… that same scrolling motion now changes that parameter…. it’s the worst

I think maybe they will be able to fix bugs…. But being able to resize the thing so it can be visually useful at a glance would be my number one desire.

Why you dont roll back? Firmware downgrade should be possible…Btw was on Intel Ventura till now and waited to update as long as it would make sense for me. But the power of the M4Max seduced me…At the cost of stability. I think as well general OS Stability suffered a lot since the move to Apple Silicon. I cannot estimate what happened during the time till now but Sequoia 15.4 is my most unstable buggy OS experience i‘v ever had with Apple…Hope they manage to turn it around…Was a bit offtopic…

I built a new room o the time they moved from control to control 2 and redid my wires and patchbay to my interface…. Some custom loom stuff and routing
So I’m stuck with control 2 because it can route a little different than control

I tried to roll back but I’d be pulling wires and relabeling a big bay….. it’s a rock and a hard place

Understand…Then just get to support everytime they update and hand back in your issues and hope they put in some love in thst piece of software…But when i see the bugs apple leaves in the OS since months or years i think its difficult too nowadays for Software Conpanys to interact with Apple…Thanks again for your information regarding stability of Control 2 at the moment
