Can someone tell me which midi drivers are tighter-better-with less midi jitter in cubase? Direct music, windows midi or winRT?

Direct music is deprecated and unlikely to work in the near future.

Windows MIDI in Cubase is WinMM, which is decent. WinRT MIDI 1.0 is slightly slower from tests I did some years ago. The main problem is today, it has much worse port names in the case of multi-port devices.

None of those are drivers. Those are APIs. They all work with our in-box class drivers as well as vendor-specific drivers.

Jitter is often overstated and confused with MIDI 1.0 DIN wire speed limitations. There's little jitter with decent MIDI interfaces. But it very much depends on the physical MIDI interface in use.

WinMM MIDI 1.0 performs slightly better than WinRT MIDI 1.0. However, there are some shutdown bugs in Cubase which sometimes cause hangs with that API. I suggest reading about them on the Cubase forums at Steinberg if you run into any problems.

Direct music drivers are still used in windows, so at the moment doesn't really matters if they are going to be abandoned in the future.

WinRT are much newer than windows midi, aren't they?

Also I think direct music midi drivers are newer and more advanced than windows midi.. It it truth?

Pete literally develops the MIDI stack in Windows.

Direct Music as a API dates back to Windows 98 and was deprecated in Windows Vista.

WinMM and WinRT get reimplemented by the new Windows MIDI Services which is now in the Insider Canary build. So when the new support goes in to a production Windows then the deprecated Direct Music API stops working.

My question was based on the current conditions, current midi options and drivers-devices...When better,new developments will be included in windows ,it d be great .For now iam interested to work with tight midi and less jitter.
In cubase there are 3 options,the options that I mentioned.Has anyone done any kind of tests-shootout between those options?

It seems that opinions differ. From the support of the RME they had suggested to me to use the direct drivers.Some users seem to prefer windows devices while others prefer directmusic ones.It is a bit confusing.

"The future" means, in about a month or three, delivered as an update to Windows. So I thought that would be relevant to you.

The WinRT MIDI 1.0 API uses the same underlying MIDI 1.0 drivers as WinMM "Windows MIDI" does.

Under Windows MIDI Services, they are both replumbed to talk to the new service instead of directly to drivers. DirectMusic is not changed, and will not talk to the service or the new combined MIDI 1.0/MIDI 2.0 driver.

That was (is?) our plan, but as we have been working through backwards-compatibility bugs, we have had some understandable push-back from partners who are concerned about us replumbing WinMM (the existing MIDI API used by most apps) right before we stop support for the OS.

So TBD.

I have no skin the the game but I would guess as part of Windows 11 25H2 as that allows MS to push it out to enough people that corner case bugs that don’t get reported in the insider release get seen but not force everyone to move to it instantly.

I know it has taken a while, but we're quality-driven, not date-driven on this. We've fixed a bunch, but there are still some backwards-compatibility bugs to fix. We don't want to break existing WinMM and WinRT MIDI 1.0 apps so we're prioritizing backwards-compatibility issues.

We have a version in Windows Insider Canary releases today. We're working on getting a slow-roll of this into our production Windows versions via a continuous delivery update soon. We're not currently tied to a specific release of Windows, but that could potentially change in the future.
