I am using a Lynx Aurora (n) TB with AES option as my primary converter and interface. The included Lynx mixer software unfortunately does not support remote control via HUI / Eucon / et al. As far as I understand it the hardware itself doesn't support remote control via any method other than the Lynx mixer software.

I love the sound of the n converters and would like to keep using them (I do realize just going with an Apollo or something would make this way easier but I've been down that road and really want to stick with the Aurora). So to gain hardware control I'm going to have to use a different interface with a remote compatible mixer. The LT-MADI card is listed as discontinued on the Lynx site so it looks like I'm limited to AES or DANTE as the formats -- I could replace the LT-TB card in there with the DANTE card as I wouldn't need TB in this configuration. I would prefer to keep whatever the interface ends up being as TB as I'm connecting to an iMac Pro which does not have PCI slots. Willing to do an external TB-to-PCI box though.

So given that info what are my options here? It seems like RME via HUI is a solid platform and UA apollo via softube console1 looks promising. any alternatives I'm missing? ideally I wouldn't have to purchase a full on converter like the Goliath or something, would love just a small interface only solution like the RME MADIface but I haven't found anything that really fits. Anything you guys can think of that would fit the bill?

The alternative to all of this is to hook up my SSL X-Desk as a front end monitor mixer but would like to avoid an analog step as I'm running an AES genelec system which is doing the final conversion for monitors straight out of the AES of the Aurora so sticking any analog solution into that would result in a couple stages of unnecessary conversion.

Edit: Forgot to mention that setting up live input monitoring and remote controlling the DAW is not an option, I need near zero-latency hardware monitoring and once a project starts to get into high track / plugin counts the latency of live input monitoring becomes unusable.

RME has a Dante card like the MADI face, which I have hooked up to my Orion 32 which is fed into my Hilo for monitoring. RME is always rock solid.

Yes, there is a way to do it in the Windows system, that is to use the keyboard method and an external controller (a volume knob control for less than 20 US dollars) to link the internal mixer to achieve control. Internal volume. But you can only set one action, such as the linkage of a group or the linkage of a volume.

I love the Aurora mixer. It’s annoyingly short of being amazing though. The main thing that bugs me is it won’t let you play/stop your DAW when it’s in focus.
