Respondent #1 : I don't use it often but, sometimes it's the ONLY PLUGIN IN THE WORLD that gives me what I need.

Respondent #2 : Ever since I got it, it is LITERALLY THE ONLY REVERB PLUGIN I USE. I even put my MASTERING CHAIN through it.

Respondent #3 : I will never forget the time I had to make a creepy jingle for the local car salesman, I used Mangled Verb, all the other car dealerships wanted the same effect! PAID FOR ITSELF IN TWO DAYS (at FULL PRICE)!

I'm subscribed to Slate and, Kush, have most of Eventide, UAD, Waves and Fab Filter, plus smaller goodies like 112dB, Audio Assault, Audio Damage, Klanghelm, Soundtoys, Softube, TRacks, Sonnox, PSP, and great D16, and yet find myself absolutely loving Plugin Alliance's ideas.
Some of them are real gems.
I'll list only a few of those:
Lindell 354E is truly amazing on the mixbuss for color sculpting.
Lindell TE-100 is really a mind blowing EQ/color box. Once you get it (learning curve max 30min) it delivers HUGE and fat bass, meaty Pultecy mids and sparkling but never harsh highs.
(Both Lindells feature oversampling and headroom controls.)
Maag EQ4 is such a simple and effective way to sculpt a beautiful sound.
Vertigo VSC-3 delivers very useful saturation also in M/S.
Unfiltered Audio G8 is one of the best working and clever gates.
Townhouse Buss Compressor clearly outperforms Waves SSL G Comp as "the glue"
Elysia nvelope kicks ass pumping transients like a champ
Elysia karacter does the job as a flexible saturator
bx_Pan EQ and DSM V2 are amazing tools, be sure to check it out, too

Glad to hear you say the TE-100 took some time getting used to. Another member in this thread recommended it highly, but I just couldn't get along with it in 5 minutes. I felt EQ4 was slightly duplicitous since I have EQ2. (I know I know, it's totally different... just haven't had much time to use EQ2 which I got free.) I didn't really demo G8 but I know it gets love here... I didn't "get it" from the videos alone, I guess. (but I did fall for SpecOps - pretty sure I can do similar with all my other plugs, but it is very nice, I must admit!) Karacter I still don't love. (but nvelope - seriously, so good, I will NEVER even think of opening another transient plugin, and had no interest in SPL's as a result) Anyway, I had to keep SOME items for potential voucher purchase, so it's a good thing I didn't "get it" on some of these that are crowd pleasers!

In other news - I went to demo my new Ultratap in Komplete Kontrol, and realized, doh, only Blackhole has NKS support! That sucks. Sounds cheesy but I REALLY LIKE IT when plugins have KK support nowadays. And in the process, I instead loaded NI's Replika (and I also have the XT version), and realized, holy smokes... Replika is legit! For some reason the name always made it seem cheap. But that's no excuse, considering all the OTHER delays I have and don't crack open (Echo Boy , Tekturon , all the Waves ones... oh, and I THINK I managed to squeeze bx_delay in somehow, too?!?

Oh, and somehow Oberhausen was at the top of my user NKS instruments... (from my demo install) I passed on it now but man, those preview sounds do sound sooooooo good. Hope it goes on a bigger sale than it was sometime, and then I can vouch for it. (weird pun intended)

But what if there is a compressor you don't have ? I've currently have 243 compressors, so I have a lot of the basics covered, but you're not really in the compressor game until you are rocking 280-300 compressors.

I ignored Replika XT for ages thinking it wouldn't be very special but IMHO it is very special and I don't get how it isn't talked about a whole lot more.

Plugins are the crack cocaine of the music production world, you think you can quit any time you like, you tell yourself "I bought Mercury, I'm ok now, no need to hang around bus station toilets looking to turn tricks for a $20 reverb", but it's never ok, it's never enough, you think you are strong, but eventually you'll find yourself, at 3am, completely naked, running through the streets, out of your mind on heavily compressed delay, shouting something about 'very slight high-end aliasing', completely unaware of the taser prongs hanging out of your back, as a police car follows you repeatetly firing warning shots at your filth covered feet.

Lindell 354E - I just got this for $9 and it is excellent. Drums, keyboards, acoustic guitar.

Lindell TE-100 - Also really tasty, but you have to learn it via Plugin Doctor or it will remain a mystery. Even then, I only use it for broad EQing, eg: drums, and you have to crank the Gain on each section to hit the tubes to taste and then back off the Output gain.

Vertigo VSM-3 - This is very good as well once you crack the code re how to use it, which isn't really that hard.

Unfiltered Audio G8 - I got this for free but haven't learned it well yet.

DSM V2 - the next step up in compression concepts from the guy who designed the world famous SSL bus comp - Paul Frindle. This is permanently on my mix bus chain.

Elysia Phil's Cascade - dip your tracks in luscious tube and transformer mojo.

BBAD HG-2 - More great tube mojo.

Some 'clean digital tools' sound more physical than others and sit in the mix in a more musical way without so much fighting. The MH channelstrip was the first plugin eq that I actually liked way back in the 90's, and it still feels good today for the same reasons.

That 'clean digital' thing is a mind trick. Everything has a sonic identity.

The actual UAD stuff won't come out as native plugins, that would kill their business model, only the stuff made by people like Brainworx for UAD make it to native plugins.

True, UAD would cut their own legs off making stuff that doesn't need their dongles. ......

I haven't seen that one but I'm pretty sure they're talking about the h/w requirement that the cpu have the avx instruction set which leaves those of us on cheesegrater Macs and I think the first iTrashcans out of luck. Which sucks big time. A lot of people purchased the current Komplete package early on based on not only the low price but also getting the free upgrade to Massive X. NI hid the requirements for Massive X until later in the game; it was like only a month or so before it was first due to drop that NI put up the requirements.

Fair enough -- I overstated my case. Let's just say I suspect I'm not the only potential customer out there who never looked at PIA seriously these past several years because their prices were not just higher than other developers, but in a whole different pricing universe. And while sure, the market is big, they must have missed out on quite a few sales along the way before they finally realized their pricing structure was out of touch with market reality. Some of those lost sales are most likely lost forever, because people have found other solutions that work. But it was silly of me to sound like PIA is doomed on that account.

Yep, we all have been there. I felt happy and complete with my plugin collection til this weekend. Relapsed due to the pushers at PA and bought BlackBox Audio HG-2 for $29.

I was off the Plug in wagon BUT got BAX and Townhouse on sale.... I also couldn't resist True Iron on sale for $28-. Honestly the only tempting tools are the AI ones like Gullfoss or Bassroom.

Really has to be exceptional to purchase and these work really well with the NoiseAsh eq's for shaping......

I've heard so many great things about the True Iron. I've been trying to calm my addiction down a bit but come on should I pull the trigger on a copy?

Honestly, I don't think this is just hype and Kazrog is a company that has a stellar track record. I have Kush, HG2 VPRE, Decapitator and VSM 3.... BUT one thing I've learned is saturation is very much like a specific instrument, each have their own harmonic signature...... For the price is pretty amazing.

Demo by all means, but I bet (and did!), this will add that extra something where needed......

Saddest state of affairs! Mostly because those suffering from issues like that don't need another $20 reverb, since they can barely get a decent mix done as it is already. Not because they suck mind you, but mostly because they're so focused on collecting plug-ins that it leaves very little time for them to get any real work done, or work on improving at their craft and truly mastering the use of all those tools that they bought.

They're in this game for bragging rights, and unfortunately those bragging rights center around the gear and plug-ins they own, rather than the quality of the work they're able to accomplish.

AFAIK, no mention of True Iron being on sale was ever mentioned here in this thread, . I thought we all had each others backs here?!
