The basic features and appealing functionalities (object editor etc.) are already well-known to me, but on a pragmatic note, I'd be curious to hear about any longstanding bugs or inflexible and frustrating workflow limitations of Sequoia, because on the Merging side, these are a significant reason for my interest in switching.
I have already downloaded a demo of Sequoia and I've been mostly impressed with it, in general, but I don't have the time yet to get fully immersed in every nuance of its operation, so I'd welcome thoughts from any users here in the classical world.
Finally, a quick question if anyone happens to know the answer -- when importing polywav files into Sequoia, I can correctly get them to split and populate sequential tracks, but Sequoia does not appear to import the channel names (Main L, Main R, Winds L, Winds R, etc.) which are embedded -- Pyramix can and does import this correctly. Perhaps I am foolishly missing something, despite reviewing the manual?
In my opinion, SEQUOIA is the premier classical editor. I used to have PMIX but abandoned it because of its steep learning curve and constant dunning updates.
I have both Sequoia 14 and Seqoia 16 here. Both are equivalent with V.16 having a better SRC result.
I see no reason to convince you about SEQUOIA because Deutsche Grammophon has already qualified it as the best.
The main reason to use SEQUOIA in my opinion is that it sounds better than all other daws. This statement is controversial but, in my experience and use, is true.
The integration of EUCON control surfaces such as AVID Artist MIx series and its successors is seamless and very good.
The edit model and graphics / flexibility of the edit window is unsurpassed. Edits that are impossible and clumsy in competing daws are easily accomplished in SEQUOIA. A miracle worker.
Discounts on SEQUOIA are available as a cross-grade if one has any of the other family member daws such as Samplitude Pro. At other times, Magix will run specials on SEQUOIA.
Even at full price, the SEQUOIA 16 is a bargain.
Do not look for things that do not work in SEQUOIA. There aren't many--principally the surround and immersive capabilities could be better and are in refinement by Magix.
SEQUOIA-- rock solid.
