One thing I would love to do is 3D print some "bridges" to couple two mono faders for stereo usage.

I came up with that (non original) idea DAWless jamming on my ZED24 mixer.

Oh boy. This is not how that conversation went at all. Some of us were recommending a digital mixer for a band because that’s the standard today, to let bands manage their own IEMs/personal mixes from their own phones, record to SD card, send to front of house, side fills, wedges, etc. save scenes for easy recall, do virtual sound checks by recording and playing back through the PA, automatic feedback suppression, auto-gates on mics, and on and on.

The nice thing about the Digiface is that you’re building your I/O around a super powerful virtual patchbay and ADAT, industry standard for digital expansion, so you could start with cheap Behringer AD8200s, find Aurora 16s or AD16x or any other flagship converters from 10-20 years ago and they’ll all work along side something brand new from SSL, Audient, Ferrofish, etc.

It's exactly how that incident went. I made an 'honest mistake' and thought it was for a school, which I thought the SSL would be neat for...and...at the same time, it sounded like they wanted a live rig to do PA. So why not use a 1604 pro mackie and get the SSL. I was instantly accused of not adhering to the topic at hand, even tho I admitted to making a mistake...and accused of 'pushing my own wants on the OP'....which was totally bogus.

It was a confusing post, he asked for a recording interface with a power amp, which isn't really a common thing. I was thinking they could use the mackie for live PA, record their live PA stuff into the SSL...OR use the SSL alone.

Also, there just seems to be a lot of general sentiment around here against analog consoles which I disagree with. In fact, there seems to be a lot of people around here interested in analog consoles, being told not to bother, etc. I'm assuming they want to have fun and enjoy a console.

Well, maybe you're not paying attention, because this place worships analog, no matter how ill-fitted it is as a solution to a problem.

For this thread though, I think an analog mixer is a good fit, because it's one guy in a room with synths, not a bunch of guys trying to tackle a bunch of different scenarios between live/recording/monitoring.

I know that professionals 'require digital' I know, I know, I know....but....there are also many hobbyists/semi professionals, that have every right to be here as well. A lot of them seem to like analog mixers, and why shouldn't they.

I agree, you can get a lot of value now with huge pro analog live mixers going for so cheap. I saw a 32-channel Midas Verona go for $800 CAD in Toronto. Was mint too, included a flight case and a bunch of Digico snakes.

Yep....if you have all kinds of time to enjoy your console then that's really cool! Verona was nice when it came out, was probably 8k or something.

Nothing new there... a proper size bit of pencil along with some tape have been a common trick since faders and stereo first came on the scene..
