Hello, I'm frequently driving rental cars and am looking for a lightweight tool for mounting iPhone in cars. I tried using a GorillaPod around the rear-view mirror but its legs get tangled. I also tried an in-vent device but these don't work in all cars.

Does anyone have ideas - maybe from the professional video world! - on portable ways to mount iPhone so it's out of the way?

I checked into this thread hoping there were some responses because my wife just asked me the same question! Oh well...

The simplest solution I've seen was a tiny widgit I picked up at a trade show a few years ago: It was just a magnet with a flexible rubber four-fingered "prong" sticking out the back of it. You stick the magnet to the back of your iPhone, and then push the prong(s) into the vanes of the air conditioner vents on the dashboard.

Of course, that solution won't work for my wife, because she already has one of those rubber credit card holders stuck to the back of her phone.
