AUM question

As a rookie with several synths

I have a 2i4 interface

Neutron

Werkstatt

Keystep

Ableton

Pocket SUB

Other stuff I don’t think I need to mention but pretty cool set up

I use windows 10

I’m researching some drum apps for my iPad, I keep seeing ppl saying this or that sucks because of AUM.............

Am I understanding correctly that AUM is more for if your using a MAC?

Do I need to not worry about the AUM talk?

By the way I’m looking at seekbeats,elastic, and pry getting cubasis, I have pure acid and a few other synth apps.

I use AUM with an iPad. Think of AUM as a master mixer/router/nexus for audio and midi. It’s the iPad musician Swiss Army knife. You’ll need AudioShare as well.
Can’t recommend strongly enough, drum app Patterning2....thank me later.

AUM only works with apps that support AU3. There are a lot of drum apps which dont support AU3 and some of them probably never will. But if you dont plan on using AUM you dont have to worry (that much).

so i do have multiple apps so i guess i should get the AUM, but isnt there a competitor as well?

There is Audiobus for IAP Apps. Btw. the audiobus forum is the best place for iOS audio questions.

So just using my iPad synths, just stick with AUM though probably?

AUM also works with apps that support Inter-App Audio. I do this daily with apps like Waldorf Nave and Korg iWavestation that don’t have AUv3 versions.

I am trying to use AUM with Waldorf Nave but cannot assign midi keyboard to it, I have tried it with Animoog and it works but the input lines are missing for Nave
