You've got to pay close attention though!
We finished the last two episodes last night. To acknowledge Jeremy, his theory is correct because Severance has been renewed for a third season, and Ben Stiller has already admitted that he has no idea where he's going to go with it because it wasn't planned to last this long.
That being said, I loved it. That could have been the series finale (and it looks like it could have been if it didn't get picked up again), and I would have been fine. That ending is perfect. You still don't know what's up with Lumon, you don't know what the goal of the Cold Harbor file was, and you don't know what was planned for Gemma, but those weren't the point. The point was that an Innie is still a whole person, and if the project got shut down, then Mark S wanted to spend his last moments with Helly R. Absolutely beautiful ending, regardless of if it was planned or not.
