Well, considering if the source is a J bass, as opposed to a Warwick, Pedulla or an Alembic - you realize they're totally different in terms of how they sound, how they feel to the player, how they sit in the mix, etc...each is a distinct instrument and tone, and aren't interchangeable.
You might as well say a Hofner is the same as a P-bass is the same as a Rick is the same as a Stingray, etc...
