KH 420 are wonderful, after few long day sessions in very good room.
Not for my room, it is too small and no real benefits over 310+sub (when needed).
I would like large room (I mean very large) and KH420 over any other monitor.

Good words of encouragement... Can you tell more about your experience? Room type, sub-woofer involved, room dimensions (approx), flush-mounted, etc?

Hey guys! I'm thinking about getting a pair of them.. but it's been 6 six years since their launch. I'm afraid they're gonna update them as soon as I buy them :D

I would guess not

Not a concern. And as has been said many times, don't chase what might be released soon, or you will be chasing your tail forever in frustration. In other words, buy what you want that works for you on the market right now. If you look at Neumann's track record (and K&H as well) they aren't really in the game of releasing the "next big thing." They engineer and design top-notch products and release them after extensive testing (one of the few manufacturers that publish detailed technical specs/data to back up the product claims). I own the KH420 and KH870 (also KH120) and they perform at the absolute highest level. I couldn't be pleased more. Using them daily and in service in my studio for almost 2 years now for the KH420 and KH870 combo and for many years with the KH120, which is why I investigated further then chose the big brothers.

I have a demo pair currently in my studio for next two weeks. My studio is not very large but I've been able to set them about 160cm from the listening position.

So far I'm very impressed. No resonances whatsoever, super smooth and clear sound. Very detailed as was to be expected. And they go low, very low. Which is perfect as I produce and mix.mostly techno.

Spec wise there isn't really any other monitor in this price range that comes close to that. For all of them I'd need a sub or two which would greatly increase the budget.or i would have to go for lesser monitors plus subs.

Didn't expect otherwise from Neumann but I'm still very imoressed so far.

Back on topic:

Listened to them all evening and still very impressed. Going to do some mixing work this week to see how things translate, but seen as I can hear exactly what I could improve on mixes I've done on my old speakers, I'm confident they'll translate great.

Glad you're back on topic. I would not trade out my KH420 monitors with ANY other that I have listened to or are aware exist. My room was built with these as part of the design. I am sure I can get great results in the room from other well engineered/designed and respected monitors, but for me... why?

They do indeed bring forth the reproduced sounds in an elegant and revealing way. Both enjoyable to listen to and to work on. About 3 years now with them and I have no complaints whatsoever.

We've just been nominated for a Sport Emmy for an Atmos mix done in this room, so the 420s seem to work.

Only read positive things about them and this is certainly reflected in my listening sessions. So it's decided. Demo pair goes back to Sennheiser and a pair of new ones will be delivered somewhere in the upcoming weeks.

They are definitely very good and are used daily for a few years now! I can 100% recommend them! They do what they need to do and won't make any troubles - period

KH 420 vs PMC8-2 and PMC6-2, sure two different design philosophies (ported design vs transmission line design), but still interesting to compare.

I'm interested in this comparison. Was looking at the pmc 6-2s and curious about the kh420's
