Anyone have any idea when the v2 units ship with the new eprom algo's?

before its "too warm"

Is V2 a new operating system or a new unit?

i don't think bricasti have any plans to come out with a new m7 unit. all updates will be to the OS from what i understand.

hell yeah,

giving oustanding sense of space to all tracks in a mix and convincing the listener,
that you tracked in one of the best rooms of the planet, even if it was only bout the 3rd or 4th best

The Bricasti definitely brings something different to the table.

Excellent. My Bricasti will be here in a few hours.. looking forward to getting familiar with it over the weekend.. The fact that there will be an upgrade with another algo makes the purchase that much sweeter..

Those that will continue to raise the bar in reverb technology.

Other than that I can't comment on any unreleased... naw just kidding!

My current work for V2 includes a new "bigger&better than real" reverb effect algorithm. Notice the word effect. Nice chewy chorusing that is meant to be heard, subtle cascading echos, and your send return gainstaging will be important. A departure from V1, and AFAIK, very different than anything done before. The algorithm will also include a delay with simple well understood controls with (effects nut this is for you) up to 1 second of delay. Again, the delay, while simple, will be quite "effecty". The delay can be used along side the reverb or going into the reverb or any mixed combination, or it can be used without the reverb at all.

V2 will include work designed to add even more size to surround applications, for use with either the V1 or new V2 algorithm.

We will also be including a few new presets for the V1 algorithm that have been asked for, (send those cds DH!)

BTW, I've asked this before but maybe it was too soon. Have folks had a chance to listen the the ezdrummer NY studios. Is there any interest in having V1 presets for these rooms, to allow other elements (or other acoustic/sampled drums) to be placed in these same rooms?

I have Superior 2.0 and I think it sounds great (Avatar Studios). Heard the demos of the expansion for 2.0 and that sounds good too.

What would be cool is if you could pull Bricasti verbs (perhaps as a software plug-in) into 2.0 kits within Superior like you can do with the transient designer, etc.

That's the type of comment that would typically hurt as we are very careful about NOT becoming a MAC/PC developer.

But in this case we actually did talk with them shortly after 2.0 came out. We never reached any conclusion as to whether this would be an accepted product or not. I thought it would be at the time. Since it's on the back burner right now, maybe an email to them would push it along.

Actually, I have always felt that partnering with specific folks with great products in a more dedicated way is the right path for Bricasti. Izotope is another great example. I know the guys over there well. I walk over for lunch with them from time to time.

I think the problem from both sides is often a lack of resources to go after an unknown amount of success. We stand ready to form these very specific partnerships, but it's not an easy thing to put together unfortunatly.

Anyway that wasn't the question. ezdrummer has these great spaces, should we make a couple of presets for the V1 alg to create the NY studio spaces for use with other mix elements, including acoustic or SSD drums?

Will both V1 and V2 be fully accessible in the menus after V2 has been installed? I hope so because V1 sounds too good to give up.

V1 will always be accessible and will remain unchanged in any way after installing V2. This will always be the case through any update. Also, any registers or favorites are left untouched and will work just as they do today. When you turn the M7 on after the update, it will come up right where you left it before the update, as though nothing had happened.

V2 will simply add new banks of presets below the existing V1 banks.

Casey - could you please clarify. With V1, all presets use what I would consider to be one single algorithm. Any V1 preset can be morphed into another preset, not matter how wildly different they are - short dark room, long bright plate - they are all just tweaks of that one single algorithmn.

Will V2 simply be extra presets using the same algorithm, or is there literally a new second algorithm? And if so - will this be selectable as an additional parameter switch? Like literally choosing between alogithmn 1 or 2? Or will the existing algorithm be extended with additional parameters or increased ranges?

I'm just curious as to how this will be implemented - and how much will be missed if we don't upgrade?

I believe it's a user installable eprom update.

How would you get into the unit? Do you mean pop the lid and install a different card?

You will receive two new EPROMs which are chips that are used to replace two socketed chips on the main board.

Yes good question.

The first priority is to do no harm. So everything about V1 is maintained exactly as is.

There is indeed a new second algorithm. It will be available as the basis of several new banks of presets. The controls will remain the same, except for the addition to V2 based presets of a small set of controls for a simple delay which will be available in series or parallel with the V2 algorithm.

Wouldn't that make it an extended predelay?

Are you 100% sure v2 will not affect the existing v1 quality in any way? Because I've heard some claims that upgrades in general can sometimes compromise the original sounds.... and if that happened to the M7, I would flip out.

Also... do the v2 chips CONTAIN v1 meaning everything is being replaced - or is it simply adding another algorithm and new banks?

I'm sorry, my wording is confusing.

What I should have said is that the delay can be sent into the reverb, or it can be used along side of it. In fact there is a mix control that allows varying the amount going into the reverb and the amount heard alongside the reverb.
