The API 2448 has been out for a few years now.

Interesting rig available in lots of configurations.

Anybody who's got one or worked on one care to chime in with some info on how you like/liked it?

Hey brother for what it’s worth I don’t have a 2448 but do have an AXS. Most of the architecture is the same from my understanding, The routing is different.

I can say this after two years of use for multiple hours a day, I have had almost no technical issues. I know the op-amps seem to be sensitive issue in the past but I can say I have had almost no problems. In two years, I had 1 small fader get wanky, and honestly that was it. All other issues were converters and other things. The board is killer and has lot of tonal varieties if your patient and willing to try. Hitting busses/Center Section harder or softer yield different result in the thd and curve. The pre-amps are really killer the skew rate amazes me sometimes. I was just Setting up a huge drum tracking session 32 inputs of Api, When A/B vs my Neves it was really pleasurable experience. You couldn’t go wrong Either way but overall, it’s just killer and the result and reliability are there. The Api Crew in tech support is second to none! They help, anything goes wrong or you can’t figure out they are a phone call or email away. The response is immediate. As always take this with a grain of salt from a half def guy from Brooklyn.

Go give one a shot! somewhere I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

When you get into it try bypassing the Gm Insert and patch out the GM out into your 2 bus chain right into your A/D direct. Different vibe available there too.

You bypass a few 2520's and/or transformers by doing this?


I've been looking at the schematics but can't seem to find it anywhere: are the (channel) inserts also fully tx coupled and is there such a thing as too many transformers/2520's in your signal path? I remember tracking on a 1608 once and having the studio owner engaging all EQ's even when not using them just to pass through all of the circuitry.

We're getting a 24 channel version with a left hand patch bay and a center DAW section. It goes Patch Bay/ 1-16 / DAW bucket / Master & 17-24. We got the 529 comp as a 500 module for routing flexibility. We ordered the console through Wes Lachot. He has a guy who does wiring for him and another guy who does "furniture". The legs, DAW bucket, end caps, bolster and rear cover are different than what you can order from API.
