Bought one yesterday, with mid-side gain. It's absolutely transparent and has very musical behavior, which I guess is because of its parallel topology and the nice curves. I have only tried it for a few hours but I'm absolutely sold on it. Very well built, too. Has a solid external PSU. One caveat is that it has no HPF/LPF but the highest and lowest bands can be switched to shelving curve.

I need the rackspace. Itβs an amazing eq. Especially at that price.
Just put an order in for a custom 250 Rev d. 4x HS3099 10x HS7000 running at +\- 28v for as Stef stated βthat Sontec soundβ
Range switches for .25db or .5db for versatility in tracking, mixing or mastering applications and LL1540 input and VTB2281 output transformers.
It was a substantial cost up charge but still great value for essentially a Sontec but reliable and vastly more flexible. Excited to get ears on it to say the least and happy to report back when I do!
The HDE 250 is a fantastic eq, no matter what opamps you use in it imho..
I do have vintage lundahls on the outputs on mine..
Brilliantly made, rock solid, very musical and quite versatile..
the price is a bargain and you can add the options you want (some cost some extra).. still a bargain for how it is made and how it sounds.
Custom Audio Germany HDE-250A rev.C
It will stay with me as long as possible.
When I run out of space, I buy another floor.
1. + Various options to choose from.
2. + Versatile use. M/S - in this discipline it shines the most in my opinion. But not only.
3. + External power supply.
4. + Super service and contact with the manufacturer. For all questions and concerns - will answer, advise with great patience admirable in this day and age.
5. + Order in time completed. And contact after shipment: Has the shipment arrived and is everything OK.
If you have a lot of electricity, start slowly. And within a week from minimum to maximum load HDE-250A.
This goes for all devices not only with a huge content of electronic components.

How often do you use m/s with it? Iβm lusting over the spacecraft on the moon but from the few demos Iβve seen the 250 is impressively phase coherent and powerful in m/s.

Only in M/S. I never found any reason to stereo EQ, but often enough to M/S. The EQ is incredibly clean, the M/S gain makes it a breeze to clearly hear what you're actually doing.

How are you getting along with this? I'm considering ordering the same configuration.
