Are you one of those who thinks the BM49 is closer to the OG than the M49V?

Nothing negative. . . just curious!

I haven't tried the M49v but I'm curious about the BM49 and it being so much cheaper too.

Unfortunately I do not have the V13 for comparison purposes. I'm about 9 hours away from Nashville, but road travel is going to be tough for the next while. If I could get on a road trip sometime this year and run over there, I'd love to do so.

One is amazing . . . one is having issues. Letting them burn in for 24 hours, and then I'll report back.

The one that sounds amazing might just be the best microphone of my own (for me) that I've ever sung into. I could have new car syndrome going on tho

Mine had noise issues. I sent it back and got a new one and everything was good.

Nah I don't think you do, I think it's the best mic I've sung into, I like that it handles everything with such ease, de essing, compression, EQ, it does it so well. Sucks that 1 of them is having issues though.

Interesting.... Seems to be not uncommon. What if you had only bought ONE and got the "issues" one? Hope it burns in and sounds equally great.

I was just thinking that. Without having two to compare, it would be tougher to know if what you're hearing is an issue or just how that model sounds.

Just wanted to share my experience with Beesneez – unfortunately, it hasn’t been a very positive one.

I received my BN251 at the end of September. Right out of the box, the figure-8 pattern didn’t work, so I reached out to Ben. He got back to me quickly and said he’d send me a replacement head in a few weeks, which I really appreciated at the time.

I waited patiently, and after about two months, I followed up to see how things were going. Once again, I was told the head would be shipped in a few weeks. Another two months passed, and I contacted Ben again – this time, I didn’t get a response at all.

Eventually, I reached out to the store where I bought the mic, and thankfully, the replacement head finally arrived last week – over six months after I first contacted Ben about the problem.

When you pay around €4000 for a mic, you kinda expect it to just work straight away. Sure, stuff can go wrong – that happens. But waiting over six months and getting the same “just a few more weeks” line over and over gets pretty frustrating, especially with something in this price range.

Anyway, I thought, if the mic works fine with the new head, then all is forgiven.
But when I swapped the head, I was honestly shocked. While all the patterns did work now, the mic sounded completely different – thin, harsh, and nothing like it did before.

In the end, I was able to return the mic through the store I purchased it from, which I really appreciated.

Really disappointing overall, especially after reading so many positive things about Beesneez here.
Hopefully I just got unlucky and this isn’t a common issue – but I thought I’d share my experience.

I must say, we aren’t perfect and sometimes customers are not happy. We have tried to make an amazing 251 at an amazing price and we have indeed faced some interesting issues that we didn’t see coming but as they arise, we do address them one by one. We have now made around 200 of the bn251 and we have had issues with 12 mics. Four of the twelve have been repaired by the dealer (thanks Mark you are awesome) and sadly the other 8 have either been repaired or replaced. This number doesn’t sound too high but let me assure you; it is….

Of the 200 mics sold, you will likely only hear a few sound bytes and comments on but if the ones that didn’t arrive in perfect condition; of course you will hear about them as their respective owners certainly have every right to be saddened/annoyed or both.

What have we done to mitigate any issues?

We have diagnosed, repaired and redesigned any weak points so as to ensure the mics only become stronger and more reliable.

We have actually found a pattern in diagnostic issues which has helped us greatly.

There have been 11 changes made to the head unit and 2 to the impedance conversion circuits (none of which change the schematic, just mechanical changes) that will keep the failures to a bare minimum.

All failures have come from international shipments meaning extended vibration has been a huge part of the problems which have lead us to ensure we won’t see repeated similar issues.

We also make sure that we pay for any and all repairs so that the customer does not need to be out of pocket.

So to sum it up; we have made 200pcs. 12 faults, 4 repaired by the dealer, 8 repaired or replaced by us and 3 needing refunds (all of which were in the last 7 days). We ship a lot of mics and these numbers are pretty good but with your help, we can make them better.

It is a shame that we couldn’t satisfy your needs in this case but we will try better next time.

Well talk about customer service!
I made audio recordings of both 251s into a matched pair of Chambord Audio (hope the tags work @chambordaudio) set identically, and straight into an Avid HD i/o into Poor Tools as @ Rand ge calls it! :P
Sent off the files to Ben and he quickly got back to me with a solution and identified the 5 star GE tube as being the issue. Made sense!
He's already sending replacement Tubes
when shipping halfway around the world, something is bound to get bounced around and shaken a bit
@ mics is a straight up stand up guy!
Looking forward to doing more business with him.

There's a lot of talk about the BN251, but has anyone jumped on the new BU47's yet?

Sorry to hear about your six month long sonic suffering.
I have had similar feelings of disappointment with record companies recently, regarding some of my back catalogue.

I can imagine being a family run business and not a big corporate one they must find it challenging and accidentally sometimes let things slip, having to catch up whilst promoting products all over the world and getting them into the shops, all year round so I guess I have been very lucky here then and had nothing to worry about considering they were early models shipped so far and the number of good NOS 6072a tubes are almost gone. It's about 1 in 10 I'd say are mic worthy these days.
Every CK12 capsule I bought from BN which is about 8 have all sounded the same, with a good smooth, open vintage tone and depth.

It's a shame you gave up as there isn't anything as good as far as I have tried or heard. I want to hear the BU47 as I bet it's a scorcher too.
I'll buy the BC12's also even though my cupboard is full of original AKG ck12 capsules of all different depths and so many CK12 style mics. I sold my Original C12 as I mainly keep pairs and I've always regretted that.
I have a C24, C12a's, silver 414's plus Flea C12's with NOS AKG capsules and BSA Siemens 204 clones and 12 x 251 clones which is just silly.
A pair of Bock's sold and now I'm also selling my brand new Heiserman matched pair if you want to buy them?
I will instantly regret it as they are my second favourite after BN251's and the RCA NIB tubes I put in them sound delightful.
I'm insane I know that.
