contacting STAM now to ask my deposit back as i do not need it anymore since another EQ option came across

I was told a few weeks ago that in stock items ships within 30 days which seemed a little odd to me. They had a SA87 in stock but waiting up to 30 days to ship it kind of threw me off. I do have a SA76 and a SA3A. Quality is good and I’m familiar with the wait.

I got tired of waiting. The excuses, combined with them still hyping new items led me to look elsewhere.

This is a mistake from Mastering Mansion, they do not have a unit

good god don't do it. buy audioscape instead. the antithesis of Stam. Great service, no b.s., if they sell it to you it ships to you. And the products are amazing. I have their la2a, ssl buss comp and 1176 blue stripe.

True. Yeah Audioscape is becoming hard to ignore. Their pultecs really have me intrigued

Whenever I look at the Audioscape website everything is SOLD OUT!

Is there like another secret "insider" website where they actually have stuff for sale :-)

Because plenty of people seem to own their units yet they appear permanently out of stock?

I follow them on instagram. They'll regularly make posts about their updated inventory and when they're going to put stuff up for sale. If you're seriously considering buying one of their units, you probably need to follow them (I'm sure they're on facebook as well) and keep an eye out. It's a weird system, but you don't see angry threads about AudioScape like you do "other companies".

They don't sell gear they are not ready to ship the next day. (Unless it's a pre-order - haven't followed those.). If you purchase when they put them up FS - as mentioned earlier in this thread, your unit will be shipping in a day or two at most.

I’m intrigued by the Audioscape business model. How does a small shop continue to pump out high-quality gear at affordable prices while maintaining the allure of scarcity and avoiding the lifestyle and operational transformations necessary for mass market production?

From WHAT I can tell they SURVIVE by USING all CAPS and EMOJIS WHEN they COMMUNICATE with the outside WORLD.

Also, making a big deal about scarcity is a good way to convince people things are scarce. It’s marketing 101. Create demand through hype, control supply to feed the hype. Nintendo, ya know?

I imagine the scarcity comes literally from the limited numbers of units they make each week.

The affordable prices I imagine are because I very much doubt these guys are getting "rich" doing this rather they are getting to follow their passion every day.

I've been a professional musician for 40 years and I can relate!

This. They are not creating anything. They only have so much capacity coupled with insane demand. Rather than be back ordered constantly they just rely on first come first serve. I would also recommend just emailing them if you miss out on something you want. They are awesome people and will likely take care of you.

The SA23A have began shipping a couple of weeks ago. I still have a couple of hundred to make so it will take another 5-6 weeks to complete the entire production at best.

Provided all parts get here end of this month from our transformer and T4B suppliers we should be able to finish them all by end November.

This product will be discontinued after this run and is currently sold out thus can't be ordered nor reserved anymore.

If we make something similar in the future we will place it in stock on the website when it's finish. I have a few ideas but we are taking things slowly and scaling down the catalog to what is doable giving the currently supply issues all of us are experiencing.

Sent you a message about a Pultec order placed in Oct. Was listed as Dec ship, now pushed to February because parts aren't on hand. Looking for either a promise or a refund on the deposit. Delivery by February is fine, hoping to deliver by February is not.

I’m interested in the EQP-1AS+. The stereo controls and option to use solid state or tube is appealing to me.

Do you see this being carried out? Are parts available and whatnot?

It is very simple algorithm, except if you don't appreciate a sort of time-related masochism.
You order.
You agree on delivery time (plus/minus few weeks let say).
You do downpayment via several installments.
If not delivered after few weeks adjusted delays, require refund.
You forget.
Never, ever order again .
Period.

If everything goes fine, you don't need to know above.

In both cases be happy

If there’s nothing else out there like it, I don’t have much of a choice so I couldn’t get too frustrated in that case.

I suppose this raises the question IS there anything comparable to the EQP-1AS+ that anyone knows about? I’m having a hard time finding anything, and I always mix into a waves pultec plugin on my mix bus, eventually I’ll want something hardware that isn’t finicky to match channels

I would advise buyers of items from boutique companies to search for recent threads regarding item availability and wait times.

As it stands all spots have been taken up to the end of March.

Lead time would not be a year but it would not be less than 4 months at this stage. Hundreds of people got on board with the Pultec family and I have a lot of work to do to catch up with them, Stamchild and the 1176 ADG.

Ill say this about Stam, he may give you the run around on when the unit is finished, but dude refunded me when i asked him. So this makes me want to try him again in the near future. Stam, if you read this, how about a GT ViPre clone? That is one of the holy grail preamps.

I placed my order for the stereo Pultec. matched/dual control channels. classic styling, ability to choose Solid State or Tubes might come in handy for metal. looked and looked and I don't even see anything similar.

I am feeling optimistic. full payment is due in a month, but I know it will be 4 month minimum wait. I'll follow up with stam seperatley from here..

But I will update this thread to give people another point of reference and hopefully help improve Stam Audio's overall reputation.
