I think the 251E would be a good comparison too, 6.3v heater mic against another 6.3v, instead of the 4v on the AC701K. Eliminate Miller Capacitance differences from the situation.

Would be great if Paul (or someone, maybe the company itself) could also include the BSA M250's or even better yet the BSA RS2 with Haun capsules and Haufe xformers..

There aren't many clones that can match those components but there are many quality models.
Heiserman, Upton, TFunken USA, Bock - Soundelux, Blackspade Audio, NLP, OPR. etc.
The most impressive so far I've found is the Beesneez.
It won't compare to your beauty as it's a completely different microphone but they are all quality microphones in their own right and can't be compared to a European 251 with a different valve and capsule.

It could be the most interesting shootout though if it was done in a great room with a high quality preamp.

There is a warm low end and high end to the OG 251 that has a magic most clones can't capture. You have an enviable collection my friend.

Thank you Paul! I guess, honestly, any of these clones named up above is good enough to make an amazing record. I have had poss to test a couple of originals which were sounding much worse than an average good clone.

You do not need any of these mics, mate. You sound absolutely great on anything because of the voice and not because of the mic. It wouldn't be fair comparison

I know this is an old thread, but just found it. I am curious what mod(s) Shannon Rhoades made to your CV4. I have one, which I like, but find it to be a bit scooped in the midrange... like so many boutique companies. What improvement(s) did you hear? Thanks.
