What ratios, on vocals, do you purple users reach for mostly. It would also be helpful to know on what type of vocal.Screamer, crooner, breathy etc.

Being in the 1176 style, I could see it being fine on gts, bz, drums you know lots of stuff. But vocals, to me, always sound better with a slow compressor. So I was wondering if the attack and release is as fast as 1176s and how you deal with it.

I mean, I could see it on grunger boy, but what if you got Barbra Mandrell Steisand standing there??

You will not be disappointed with the MC77 - it's been my go to comp on vocals for a year now (mostly just a touch of comp). The Distressor is quite standard on bass guitar at least, and it's not so bad on other instruments as well. Do you have to sell the EL8 to get an MC77 - only $1650 at Mercenary?

They are good useful tools to have around that's for sure.

When tracking vocals i turn them on mostly for the looks though.

Makes me look like a cool guy who know's what he's doing.


I don't track as much vocals with it as the guys do here.

When i do its either 4:1 or 8:1.





If it grabs too fast the trick is to hit it lightly.

That and don't look at the meters.


It wouldn't be my first choice that's for sure but i'd try it anyway in case something else didn't work.
