As others have said, the Reverb 4000 is a significantly better sounding option than the M3000, and would be a better choice.

Thank you. I have the opportunity to buy a new Lexicon pcm92, TC reverb 4000 or used pcm96. What to choose from 3 devices?!?

I have a Reverb 4000 and also a PCM96 here. They are both useful, but they have quite a different sound. The Lexicon high end units have a recognisable warm, lush (and sometimes syrupy) sound that combines with (and seemingly alters) the character of the material somewhat. Sometimes that's what you want, others not so much, depending on the material and your approach.
By contrast, the Reverb 4000 doesn't have so much 'noticeable' and 'recognisable' character (meaning its character is less intrusive) but given an airy extension and subtle depth to content. Apologies for the inevitable inadequacies of these descriptions...
And of course, each of the units offers up a fair few options - some more 'in character' for the unit than others, so generalising about their sound is of somewhat limited value - you really need to audition them to get a feel for how well they will work for you.
