Impact iX is a USB keyboard controller with either a 49 or 61 note full-size keyboard, pitch bend, modulation wheel and foot switch. Octave buttons are available any time to shift the keyboard up or down -3/+4 octaves with multi-colored LED indicators showing the exact status. Transpose buttons allow you to shift the keyboard +/- 12 semi tones and an assignable fader provides control over any MIDI parameter.

I guess you need weighted or semi-weighted keys and 61 or 88 keys. I guess I am not sure what you mean by "actually learning the instrument on"? My wife is a piano teacher and teaches various kids in the area. So I get to hear and see some of the lesson plans she uses....
...of the keyboard no longer works for some reason! I wish someone just put the novation keybed in a Nectar iX61 body! Or that a Roland A-61 existed!! Thats actually what excites me about the VI61, if the keybed is actually professional that is. Anyone care to comment?
I figured that you were probably on the right track and purchased a Nektar Impact iX61 controller. So far so good (except for losing sound from a VSTi until a restart and and the controller not making any sound until I moved the USB cable to a different port). So the verdict is out...
