As far as I know, all the synths on the list have analog oscillators, including the Evolver, so that's just been the criterion for this list. I personally love hybrid synths, particularly the Rocket.

The Mutable Instruments Shruthi also uses digital oscillators and an analog filter.

Hmm…I think maybe we should go through the list again and eliminate any that are assembled with power tools versus a traditional screwdriver.

More seriously, I think there's quite a few in there with DCOs, such as the Pulse 2, Bass Station2 and the Mopho.

DCO = All analog audio path, thus analog. In fact, it makes perfect sense because a DCO sounds like a VCO with perfect pitch. A hybrid sounds different. E.g. listen to Prophet 8 vs Prophet 12.

I wasn't "arguing the merits of a hybrid". Like I said: In my mind, I broadly classify a monophonic synth with an analog filter as an analog monosynth. Maybe you're one of those people that get all pissed when someone calls a stromboli a calzone. The differences are minor. They both pretty much taste the same.

Also, I know what a DCO is, good sir. I jokingly inquired whether the OP still considered a DCO monosynth an "analog".

And please, refrain from telling me to "stick to topic", or giving me any further instruction unless you're a moderator.

May be a good idea to add another list underneath, as there's clearly several other new monosynths with a lot of analog components.

Now we need a thread like this for the currently available analog polysynths, just to highlight the disparity.

Also, if we're gonna get all balls out technical then you can remove the Evolver from the list. It has A/D-D/A conversion in the signal path, no matter if you're using the digital or analog oscillators.

Listening back to some demos of this again, you're right that it sounds excellent. Very pleasing sounding instrument that is among two or three I listed in that range that stand out, to me.

Relax holmes. I'm not forcing the OP to change his list. He can classify things the way he sees fit. I was only joking about the DCO thing (goofy face included) then I was lectured on what a DCO is. And I'm only pointing out the Evolver's digital signal path for the sake of clarity. After all, if this thread is about recognizing those synths with the virgin purity of an analog signal path then the Evolver doesn't belong. Just sayin.

I'm really amazed the Neptune isn't a much more popular synth. Maybe it's the extreme lack of marketing and that it's not widely available from major distributors. It's got a lot of great features considering the price. It sounds more "vintage" than most of the new analogs. Tons of character and a unique filter. It can be smooth or very raw and aggressive. I love aggressive sounding instruments.

Sub37 is para phonic, not necessarily monophonic (maybe we should include all analog synths since poly synths can still play one note at a time, then)

Same with Volca Bass. It's not monophonic, it's paraphonic. I can get it to play chords with the built-in sequencer, and do!

I can't speak to the rest of the list, the analog monos I've played with are listed and I can't speak to the minutiae of the others.
