He said for Monotribe owners this Volca Beats would probably be good to add to Monotribe, which has weak drums. I agree with him. I will consider it since I already have Monotribe. The question of Monotribe Bass vs. Volca Bass? will probably in his next review. I am looking forward his review.

He didn't mention anything about which MIDI channels they operate on and respond to by any chance? This is something that really should have been mentioned by now with all these videos and articles popping up, but it still remains a mystery for some reason.

No. They are just talking about some of the performance functions. No Midi discussion. This review is not deep, and talking about only Volca Beats by itself. But next time he will talk about Volca Bass, so maybe he will connect them and talk about Midi.

Personally, I hope it has old style Trigger-Out like TR-606. I am looking for a substitute for my TR-606. I don't really care about Midi and USB. I have Non-Midi Non-computers set up in my case.

All three have Sync Out, but Sync Out is just a continuous click that beeps every step like a metronome. It's not like 606's Trigger Out where you can actually input where you want it to be on the sequencer grid. Another thing worth pointing out is that the sequencer doesn't have song data and can only save eight 16-step patterns. The TR-606 would be worth keeping if you're into more song structured programming.

For me TR-606 is a "never sell" thing. I will just add Volca Beats as alternative to TR-606, not its total replacement. For me the only thing that can replace TR-606 is another TR-606 or TR-808.

regarding MIDI channels, on the old electribes (i still have the A, R, S from 1999), factory settings for MIDI channels on the A was 1 and 2 (corresponding to their respective parts), R was 10, and S was 11. i never owned the M so i don't know what channel it was set on from the factory. i'm pretty sure (or at least i hope) they'll follow suit with each with their own MIDI channels.

Syncing the 606 with the Volca Drums should be awesome too!

The m was drum parts channel 10 synth parts 1 and 2 on midi channels 1 and 2.

channel 10 is the General Midi standard agreed upon by the industry would really be surprised if that were not the case with the Volca Beats

Sorry if this has been covered before... but I am currently planning out a lil' setup that consists of an MPC 1000, OP-1 and the Volca Beats and Bass (or the Keys). Does anyone know if the Volca synths accept MIDI PC messages? I know I could sequence stuff from the MPC but I really would dig using the step sequencers on the Volcas and keep everything tied together using PC messages to change the current pattern.

I am sure this is 100% possible but I just wanted to double-check. I'm definitely excited for these lil' dudes, hoping that I could program them and switch patterns externally is all.

I'm interested to know why you would favor this over the br-800. To me the 800 is the obvious choice.

Can't find this anywhere - does the Keys have different wave forms, or pwm?

Korg's website says it has sawtooth and square, but the front panel only shows waveforms for the LFO. It really doesn't make it clear if VCO waveforms are going to be stacked or switchable.

Look on the keys themselves.

Specifically the ones labelled... saw and square.

Considering the two are on separate keys, I'd say they might be stackable?

The Bass unit has a VCO Wave category, but the Keys unit doesn't. The waveforms listed on the Keys (there's three) are for the LFO. I'm kind of guessing here is that the two waves will be stacked, then detune knob will control the pitch of whatever waveform is Osc 2. This would make the most sense since it has that ring mod option to experiment with.

In one of the sonicstate promo vids from Messe a rep said that all the modes are sawtooth except for the last two which are square. Odd.

Hearing all sorts of dates, I spoke to DV247 and they told me "late summer, probably September"

other people have heard other dates before September but I'm not sure if that's based on any hard evidence....

If it comes out before September I'll be happy but at the moment I'm not holding my breath

my info isn't that up to date so I'm guessing they're shipping them sooner than previously expected
