Last night I listened to an old recording of my MS20 Mini, tweaking away with various sounds and it sounded pretty good, the noise mostly not a problem. I even thought maybe I'd done the wrong thing by selling it. Then I realised, I'm listening on my Philips TV headphones that have a warm bass end and muted top end. When I used to play the MS20 Mini on Samson SR850 "Studio" headphones, the noise was really objectionable. It used to put me off using it. I had another old test recording showing the noise and that was easily heard even on the Philips. Just a low filtered single saw wave sound.

So we either live with it and maybe try to filter the top end out (EQ or a dynamic denoiser), or swap it for one of the fancier Korg versions or B clone. I went with a K2.

That key yellowing above is another example of the shoddiness for the price paid.

I haven't measured it, but the noise on mine reaches into the mids too.

The reason I got the MS-20 out in the first place was to help decide if I needed the K2 MkII. Think I'll be getting one.

Kind of wishing I'd got the FS when it was available new.
