My buddy just texted me to let me me know. Crazy $420 price drop. Maybe they’re dumping all their inventory to make way for a V2. Or maybe maybe Yamaha is about to release an Opsix-killer and Korg doesn’t want to compete with it.

But sweet F all for UK and Europe as usual. Come on, Korg. IMHO this should be the standard price for these synths anyway..

It sounds like it stopped selling so they are dumping stock and have disco’d it. I would not be surprised honestly once they released the software a lot of people were like why should I buy the hardware? Software sounds the same gives me more direct access to some of the paged parameters!
It pretty much negates selling my hardware for at least a minute

Thanks for the heads up. I'm seriously considering this (because I love a great deal), but I already have an FS1r and Montage so I really don't need another FM synth. Could this do anything I couldn't do with my current FM synths?

Replace V2 with Mk2 or whatever signifies a replace of the current hardware.

Unlikely, more like too much inventory cause that stuff didn't sell well.

Sure ... but you got it sooner, and you've had time to get into it while the rest of us hemmed and hawed. At least, that's what I told myself after things I bought dropped in price, and I'm stickin' to it

And I don't even want to talk about that two-day-no-warning sale on Behringers last November.

Sorta felt like they were begging us to buy it, these past six months or so ... didn't it? Like "C'mon guys; it's really cool -- really! Just give it a a chance ... guys?"

And it did look good, just not $800 (or thereabouts) good. Korg seemed not to realize that many HW lovers **really really** like having more than three octaves.

In the future, I think Opsix will be seen as being too in-between: not small enough for the suitcase crowd, not big enough for the fortress-of-boards crowd (and ignoring the modular crowd entirely).

And possibly just not the right time for a 'new' FM synth, when retro is so popular. Unless they figured they could do with FM what Behringer was doing with analogs ...

I read online that the Opsix VST discount for hardware owners ended back in April, which is a bummer. I’ll give it a shot though when my unit arrives.

IIRC, It's built around a Raspberry Pi. Not much else to cannibalize.

I saw this pop up in the new gear thread this morning at the ridiculously low price.

I honestly didn't give the Opsix much thought when it was released since I have FM pretty much covered for what I need.

Needless to say, I decided to look into it and do a little research, which led me to Daniel Fisher's review of it on Sweetwater.

After about 30 minutes of Daniel talking about operators, algorithms, etc. I lost the GAS, but here's what's interesting.

It was listed at the same sale price this morning (more on the way), but now it doesn't even come up as an active product.
