I wasn't expecting a flagship Kaoss pad. Looks like a lot of straightforward fun for performing with large samples/files. At that kind of price I think people will expect this to be a full production machine however even if that's not what it's aiming to be.

Seems pricey but that’s also with mouthful of sour grapes in that I absolutely don’t need nor want this.

KP3 was the first looper/sampler I ever played and I have strong nostalgia for it. It's buggy, noisy and limited in many ways, but whenever I plug it in, it's always fun to play. I've been waiting for successor for a long, long time and I really want this to be actually good.

Footstwitch is a great addition, I really hope that this will make it usable with guitar/bass. Weird how there's Micro USB in, but "AC IN" seems to be USB C? The screen looks kinda unreadable at first glance sadly and kinda ugly; in a way I liked "lofi" KP3 easthetic more. I'm not too happy about RCA instead of jacks, but it's not that big deal. The price tag though... it's much more expensive than SP404Mk2, I wonder what it will offer other than footswitch and a cool XY pad?

Ya I don't think the price is justified by the features listed so far. Hopefully more details will come that justify the 1400 cad price.

As this is a leak the price may be out, also everything in Canada looks expensive Having said that gear aimed at DJ's tends to cost more

There was a time in the aughts when every indie band I saw had a Kaoss pad on stage. Probably because they were cheap and plentiful, like the Microkorg. I can't see this competing in a world where the SP404mk2 is $500.

1400$ CAD? I guess this isn't the final price because it's asking for bit too much. It doesn't look like it has any form of sample/effect sequencing either.

Maybe it's going to do something really revolutionary, but the description doesn't hint at anything of the sort.

As far as price goes, I really feel like a lot of Korg’s offerings are priced so that they can blow them out in a year for half / third price and still make a profit. At third price this could move up to a maybe for me.

RCA connections are a lot more common on DJ and recording/monitoring gear than on synths and drum machines.

Yeah but the Micro is only for unimportant things like audio and MIDI. For power, they made sure use the mighty USB-C to handle all the power needed. All 3 amps.

Have to say, whilst KOASS pads have never really been my thing, I think it’s great to see Korg FINALLY starting to come to life again with new products. After what I think has been the quietest year for them ever, perhaps things are now improving and getting back to some kind of normal after Covid and the chip crisis. I hope to see more from them and get a bit of that magic back when they’d announce a whole raft of new products around NAMM etc.

As far as I can tell that USB-c port on the back is purely used for powering the device. MIDI over USB and audio over USB has to go via the awful MicroUSB connector

also does NOT power over usb to a battery power bank ...
HAS to be mains electric with the korg a/c adapter via USB C

i'd guess ripcord will make something here.....

Just chill. Give it 6 months - 1 year. These will be on blowout on Reverb for $299.

That is an... 'optimistic' price point!

I'm waiting for the SE version which will have full sized usb, TRS instead of RCA, and a silver paint job. Street price $1999 seems fair.

you do get to finger swipe around the X and Y with the scren.. but what are you effecting... we don't know.

The Replay screen does look nice. Direct streaming from SD card, and master output recording are cool features, however I think Korg fumbled the ball on this one. It's basically 1/5 of a SP-404 MK2 for double the price.

The performance features of the Replay are already in the 404's more-powerful DJ Mode:
1. The Replay has only one FX processor on the master output and a mic FX. The 404 has 2 separate FX processors on the master, plus 2 more assignable, and a Input FX... that's 5 FX processors total. You can chain FX, do a mixer channel/send type of set up, etc. You can also assign specific FX to the front panel buttons or MIDI CC buttons for direct access....no scrolling through FX lists while performing.
2. The Replay has two assignable faders with cue. The 404 can have a knob for cue or crossfader, and has 3 decks using the control knobs (or faders with a midi controller): 2 decks for song/loops,1 deck for mixing in the sequencer and all it's samples. Plus you can still enter regular pad mode with a single button press and trigger one-shots, loops, or stems that all auto-sync to decks' tempo. You can have 2 full songs playing, mix in a beat from the sequencer, then trigger loops and stems from the pads...all playing at the same time following the decks' master tempo.
3. The 404 decks have 'hot cues' like the Replay, but also has autoloop, so you can loop a section of the deck on-the-fly in various time divisions. This lets you change the arrangement of a full song whenever you want.

Of course there so many other 404 features missing in the Replay like: chromatic sample playing (with scale modes), live pattern recording, step sequencing, FX editing, powerbank/battery power, envelopes, etc.

Bet you a beer it's the exact same 128 presets that were on the Korg Triton two decades ago, that Korg sells as a plugin and has been recycling for decades now

Well that's a disappointment. I hoped for simpler, more hands-on (and cheaper) SP404Mk2 with logue SDK compatibility. Instead we got something that isn't even that much improvement over KP3. Sure they added more pads, color screen which enables for viewing and trimming waveforms but overall it's very meh. Maybe they will add something in a firmware update (given double USB, which is not exactly a USB I can't help but think this is some prototype they decided to ship right now) but I'm not really holding my breath.
