It's a long shot and you'd have to be very technical, but the old DOS tracker
Impulse Tracker used to open .KRZ sample files. If you're an old demoscene tracker you might be able to fire it up in DOSbox and try to load some samples - but if you haven't heard of Impulse Tracker before, it's probably going to be too painful to try. At least it would be cheaper than Chickensys Translator and not require an iLok.
There's a modern open source clone
Schism Tracker that works on all the major operating systems, but I don't know if they kept the ability to open Kurzweil .KRZ sample files.
